Hey guys, first time post for me.

I stumbled upon this "Srv" strat on craigslist, the guy is asking $300 for it and at first I thought it was just an older natural strat with an SRV pick guard. But when he sent more photos I noticed the headstock had a srv signature on it, in the wrong spot (so i think).

Take a look, the guy really doesn't seem to know anything about guitars but if I can pick this thing up for cheap, would it be worth it?

Usually when something seems too good to be true, it is.
My guess (BTW, most of the pics are too small for any evaluation purposes): that's a Squier.
Ask for the serial#, if you want to check.

You may feel that it is worth $300, but it doesn't appear to be a true, SRV Fender Stratocaster...imho.

Ahem... That part was not the problem...
Only the body shot (1st pic on the 2nd post) is big & sharp enough, others small & blurred.

And: sorry to be the bear(er) of bad news.

No additional pics or info will help - it's not a Fender, and not a SRV model.
Run away - I won't even bother with listing all the wrongs in that one.

Note: "Custom built" is not the same as "Fender Custom Shop built".
Note2: Funny how "the guy really doesn't seem to know anything about guitars" almost always correlates to fakes.

It's a poor fake, as stated it's either a cheap Squier or worse, a Chinese no-name generic str*t copy.

If you buy it then you will always know that you are playing a fake guitar. You will also be lining the pockets of a seller who is in all probability selling what he knows to be a fake guitar under false pretences. And you will have a guitar with almost no resale value.

Save up, go to a store, buy a Fender. As someone once said, "the quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten".

Never seen a SRV with the big head, the back plate is not fender short, a scam!
For the logo, it is supplied too!

Custon built mean a home or modify guitar . Nothing to say it is a good quality instrument .

At this price it is a fake and at this time good chance a "fish " bought it :(

Couple things... other then the very expensive Lenny Strat, SRV are Sunburst, have gold hardware, vintage style tuners, and a pre-CBS era small headstock. You can buy false waterslide on the internet for $30, so that's a fake. That's most likely a Squier, if not worse.
