Hi All,

I need help. I own these two (pictures below) Fender Stratocaster American Standard guitars (the red is 1995, serial N598xxx, and the blue is 2000, serial Z0128xxx) but I don't know what are the colors of them.
I can not find on the web the Fender catalogs of 1995 and 2000 at all. So I wrote to the Fender Support and got a reply.
For my blue guitar (2000) the response was satisfactory, ie, they sent me the correct specifications of the Stratocaster for that year, and the possible colors are:

(700) * 3-Color Sunburst, * add $ 50.00,
(701) ** White Blonde, Ash Body, (Discontinued 1/2002)
(703) 2-Color Sunburst **, Ash Body, (available on 011-7402 Maple neck only) (Disc. 7/2002)
(712) Candy Cola,
(705) Olympic White
(706) Black,
(715) Hot Rod Red (Disc. 1/2002)
(721) ** Natural, Ash Body, (Disc. 1/2002)
(725) Chrome Red, Parchment PG (Disc. 1/2007)
(744) Shoreline Gold,
(750) Butterscotch Blonde,
(751) Sky Blue (Disc. 7/2003)
(769) Charcoal Frost Metallic,
(774) Aqua Marine Metallic, (Disc. 1/2002)
(795) Chrome Blue, BWB PG (Disc. 7/2006)

Looking at it as well, I believe the mine is 774 (Aqua Marine Metallic), because it's a slightly greenish blue and chrome. What do you think (the pictures are below)?

Regarding the red guitar (1995), they sent me a spec that has nothing to do, because my guitar does not have the commemorative medallion of 40 years of Fender and neither seems to me to have been built between January and December 1994, so that there is a stamp on its body and neck stating the year 1995.
See what Fender Support sent to me about my AM-STD 1995:

"Hello Savio,

I have attached spec sheets on Both guitars below.
The serial number N598xxx corresponds with this guitar:

COMMENTS: All of the US Stratocasters made in 1994 had the medallion and the neckplate commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Stratocaster.

I completely disagree with these specs because I know that mine was made in 1995 and not between January and December 1994 (remember the 1995 stamped on the body and neck?).
Even if the above specifications were correct, the color of my guitar might just be the 715 (Lipstick Red), which does not convinces me because mine has an interesting feature: it has a slightly darker chrome red at the edges and in the center of its body is a translucent red, ie, you can see the details of the wood.

Anyway, my questions:

1 - Does anyone have a Fender 1995-1996 catalog OR the 1995-1996 specs doc (like the answer from Fender Support above) to send me?
2 - What color do you think is the red (1995), considering the pictures below?
3 - What color do you think is the blue (2000), considering the pictures below (color options below)?
(751) Sky Blue (Disc. 7/2003)
(774) Aqua Marine Metallic, (Disc. 1/2002)
(795) Chrome Blue, BWB PG (Disc. 7/2006)

Thank you very much,

Savio

P.S.: All the pictures are the my guitars although at different times and with different pickguards and pickups.

jimmy_james,

Yes, that's right! And in the center you can see the details of the wood! But this color (Crimson Burst) was available in 1995? Someone told me it could also be Mystic Red, what do you think? Do you have a color catalog of American Standard de1995?

Hi sorry do not have the chart but the strat should have a barcode in the neck pickup cavity.
The last digits often indicate the color.
if the last digits are 728 then it is crimson burst which I think was discontinued in late 1997 on this model.
Hope that helps! :D

This might be one for Rob - but for some reason I thought that Crimson Burst was only on Strat Plus/Strat Plus Deluxe models? Maybe I just saw that color on them for the most part back in the day (seems like I saw a lot of blue burst and crimson burst Strat Plus Deluxes from 1992-1997). Was it also available on the American Standard?

Well anything's possible.
I know you know more about this than I do John.
When I contacted fender with the serial re mine they came back with crimson burst and that's what Chromeface seemed to think it was as well.
Nothing is cast in stone of course so I am only going on the info given to me.
Maybe the op can pop the pickguard and check? :D

There's no Crimson Red Burst American Standard as far as I can tell; my personal opinion is someone had put an American Standard neck into a Crimson Red Burst Strat Plus Deluxe body and exchanged the Lace Sensors for a set of flushed-pole AlNiCo Vs.

This guitar is a partscaster assembled with parts from 2 different guitars rather than a genuine MIA Standard.

The Hot Gold Lace Sensors on the Aquamarine American Series Stratocaster is an aftermarket mod; I suspect the bridge pickup is the hotter 13.2k though I'm not as 100% sure about the presence or not of active electronics (TBX/MDX pots) on that guitar.

In such cases the pearloid pickguards on both guitars are not stock.

I'll do it! Thanks, Jimmy.
But I'll keep looking for Fender 1995 and 2000 catalogs or specs.

Ok, my friend Chromeface, you are right, the pickguards and some other accessories was replaced. I even installed them all. And I have all the original parts here.
But my guitars are genuine Fender American Standard (not strat plus or other). The necks and bodies with the same stamp dates and codes, etc, etc.
Please, forget about the accessories. My intention is only to discover the exact colors of them, nothing more...

Hi Jimmy,

The barcode of my blue Am Std is 0056229-999 but I discovered that none of the numbers that make up this barcode indicate the color. See the link below from a thread that a guy has a HOT RED American Standard and with this exact barcode (identical to mine).

:(

P.S.: Ah, and a curiosity: there is the inscription "COL" in low relief in the middle pickup cavity. What does it mean?

Thanks Salvio
The other red one does not look like your color but photos can do funny tricks depending on lighting etc.
That may be the old barcode for the series without the color code darn.
I assume this was the code in the neck pickup cavity.
Did you check the thread link on an old post.
Crimson Burst was an available color at the time according to the reply the guy got when he asked Fender.
I got the same reply..have a look around for images and you will see a few standards in this color it is very pretty :D

But the barcode that I did show you is of my BLUE American Standard! The problem is: it's the same barcode of the RED American Standard of that guy.

Yep I got you on that point.
Possibly at that time they used that code to designate the Fender body with no mention of color unlike recent times.
Maybe that is why I could not determine my strats color and contacted Fender.
It was some time ago but I will see if I have any pics of the interior.
I could be wrong but I would still go with Crimson Burst for the red one. :D
