Hey everyone, i just bought the old strat yesterday. Anybody here have a good knowledge about Fender 87 Japan G series? I just want to know, my guitar doesn't have MIJ decal on all over the guitar. There is only serial number on headstock and that's matched.

This is my guitar, this is fake or not? Please help me because i'm a noob with strat. thanks.

All I say based on those two pics is, the perspective on the 2nd pic makes the arm rest contour look w-e-i-r-d.

So post more (& bigger), taken from every angle you can imagine.
Would be helpful if you take the neck off, markings there tell a lot. Underside of the pickguard (gut shots...), too.

Seems bizzare, an autopsy is needed as suggested Jmattis

Thx folks for your respond. As requested, there is more detail photos about my strat. Forget about tremolo arm, because that's not the strat owned, i bought the tremolo arm on music store.

On the body you can see handmade stamp, i just confused, based on serial number the guitar was created on 87/88. But if you look the stamp on neck or the body, the date is different. So can anyone tell me about this? I spent about $400 for this guitar. Thanks.

Sorry, still asking for more: could you take a photo that shows the truss rod plug better (maple or plastic?), back of the body (especially the trem cavity screws), and since you have that pickguard loose, turn it around and take photos of the wiring, pots, caps, switch...

Oh, the key factor here is how much did you pay. The guitar doesn't look bad at all, if the price is right.

I confess I'm no expert on these. Still, at the moment I don't hear kotos, rather castanets... One typical MIJ sign (a stamp like ST&some numbers) isn't there, and the dates (month, day, year) feel a little strange.

The price of $ 400 jmattis. Traces of paint on the neck seem strange and it should have registration buffer style "ST ..."
Too scriptures for me on this guitar!

Go ahead and let us see under the pick guard and the backside of the pick ups.
And the base of the neck, there should be a stamp.....or not it was a weird time for Fender.

The high E tuning machine hasn't been fitted straight. Stuff like that always raises my level of suspicion.
The tuning machines do not have Gotoh on the back.
The guitar body has obviously been manufactured on a CNC cutter but the usual Japanese markings are missing.
Could it be a Squier with a fake decal?

We need to see the underside of the scratchplate and see the bottom of the pickups and the wiring loom.
We also need to see the back of the body and trem cavity.
