I have a few Fender signature guitars. I'd jump at both the Clapton and Nile Rogers signature strats IF their necks had the vintage 7.25 radius fretboards. Is this something the Fender Custom Shop would modify without making too much of a fuss or charging too much more than what the EC and Nile Rodgers signature strats are selling for now? GREAT GUITARS!

Probably not, the specifications for Artist Series are worked out and adhered to by contract.

I, OTOH, can do that quite easily and for free. I have no contractual limitations with the artists nor with FMIC.

All I want is the old Necks. :D

Dangos is right; they won't build a signature guitar that deviates from the artist's specs.

However, I believe they will build you a guitar based on a signature model (say, a Clapton) with some different specs but they won't put EC's signature on it.

That is exactly right but it will cost you. I enquired of the Custom Shop way back in 1998 or 1999 or so. I wanted a Merle Haggard Tele but without the gold hardware and without his signature and the TuffDog logo. Those were the only changes I wanted but instead of lowering the price as I expected it actually raised the price by almost $2K because those changes meant it went from team built to master built. I had assumed that since my changes simply meant a couple steps could be skipped the guitar should be cheaper or at least no more expensive but they didn't see it that way.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

You can have both and at very little cost. Buy a new Neck from Fender with your specs.

They cost about $200 for the MIM vintage spec, made in Ensenada. Don't like it, send it back and go to Warmoth, starting with the clearance bin. You'll find something nice.

It's easy to swap the necks, get a screwdriver and a set of strings.

Or send it to a competent Luthier and get a nice set-up too. 8)

Keep the Original Necks where they'll be preserved and you'll be glad you did.

You can play the Cymbals with the Mex Neck and have a Blast! :D

If there's one item that I'd bet the farm on it's a Mint NOS Fender Strat CS Artist series Neck.
