I am shopping around for a new stratocaster. I am really digging the look of the Fender Roadhouse Stratocaster, beening doing my research because I like to know what I am buying. I am not really sure about the preamps that are apart of this guitar. Can they be removed? I know that they can be by-passed, but what if you dont want them at all? I welcome all comments and any feedback, mainly because I really want to get back into the strat owner club

Is this similar to the pre-amp in the Clapton Strat? If so, I'm not sure why you want to remove it. I find it to be a very valuable tool. My Clapton Strat is one of my most versitile guitars.

guildtimes3, you're really just making up a problem where one doesn't exist. The switch can be turned off, so soundwise you get normal Strat tones.
If you don't want the "Onboard Preamp" at all, buy a different model Strat and mod the looks to resemble the Dlx Roadhouse.

The V6 circuit is a modified version of the MDX preamp which was tweaked to deliver 6 different sounds from sizzling single coil to searing humbucker-like leads. Nice mixture of the Elite circuitry with the Varitone switching system.

I guess I should have said I was looking for the pros and cons of having the preamps on the guitar.

You HAVE TO PLAY some different models to know the difference. All these words don't translate into tone, IMHO. :D
