The mystery is that if EC did not use one, and the clear evidence is that he did not, then why the wood block in his signature models and other EC custom shop models?

Now that's the question we've been asking on and off in these pages over the years. Isn't it.

GOOGLE SEARCH CHRISTIES GUITAR AUCTION CATALOG JUNE 2004. THERE ARE SEVERAL LINKS WHICH WILL CONNECT YOU TO AN IMAGE OF THE BACK OF THE BLACKIE.

THERE ARE SEVERAL LINKS WHICH WILL CONNECT YOU TO AN IMAGE OF THE BACK OF THE BLACKIE IN THE STATE IT WAS AT THE TIME OF THE AUCTION IN 2004

Made ZZD's statement a little more precise.
BTW, why are we shouting?

I don't have a rigid and clear opinion on if there ever was a wood block in Blackie - but:
a) it would be a wonder if EC never tried that when experimenting with the tremolo blocking, and
b) EC himself approved the signatures - including the wood block, as I understand, and
c) missing pics can't be taken for evidence.

Cheeses, we're ears deep in a first world problem...

Suppose our very own Clapton historian in residence sound out Lee Dickson and establish, once and for all, the veracity of how those guitars were set up.

I'm sorry Doc, I never met Lee in person to discuss everything else about Eric's gear. Daniel Dearnley replaced him as of 2010.

Best advice is to contact him via email.

Thought you might be the person to have that link. Go to leekickson.com and scroll read through the interview on the home page. There's a short statement about the wood block in which Lee says that Eric 'likes it that way'. but not why. I'm going to see if we can find out more.

The URL you've sent is mistyped.

"leekickson.com" redirects to an invalid address.

Replace k with d and you get the correct link:

www.leedickson.com

Just saw a video from an interview he did 2 years ago! :P

Thanks for picking up the typo. Dickson's ' contact link does not appear to be of any use.

At least you've the precious documentation in your hands....including the footage from the 2012 NAMM interview.

Well, Lee appears to not have an email address, but there's a contact form from which you can send him a message:

http://leedickson.com/?page_id=10

And don't forget to tell him for noiseless versions of his Black and Brown Strat pickups and their compatibility with the TBX and MDX circuits!

Will give it a shot but it doesn't appear that inquiries are answered.
