And that's why I really don't use this forum. If some douche-hat can't decide if he wants a strat, can't decide on what color, or is unhappy with his pickups, WHY open it for discussion to get 100 different opinions from 100 different users...

At least that is something that belongs on this forum. Unlike the lounge which is full of crap that doesn't belong on a music forum. "My hampster died, and I'm bored so I thought that I would post about it here.....".......so effing what!!

Exactly!!! A blanket question gets tons of personal preferences. My advice was go buy a damn guitar, or don't, in whatever color you want, & put the pickups you want in n play it til your pubic hairs sprout. By the way, sorry to here about your hamster...

There's a whole list of topics that I just will not respond to. Maple vs rosewood, ash vs alder, what guitar should I buy, person X has died, I having surgery, the list goes on and on.

Glad I posted the thread on the gray bobbin (yes I said BOBBIN not "bottom") pickup. Guess I'm not the only one who feels this way..

Oh yeah, you should have put "OT" in this thread title, because somehow that makes it OK.

My poor hamster. I think that she has been severely depressed ever since she ate her babies. I think that she commited suicide by sticking her head into the moving wheel.

I think the whole forum would benefit from an "off-topic" section.

Maybe a good idea. But, isn't that what facebook and other sites are for? I would really like to keep this whole board as it is supposed to be, no OT allowed at all, anywhere here. Funny though that we are way OT, which I complain about. :o

Forums inevitably develop a social chatty side. An off-topic area would help to keep the "lounge" section for music topics with fewer posts about "my back hurts", "my hamster has died" and so on.

much

I really love people who buy a guitar and then ask, "Is this a fake?" Do your homework!!!!

Full discloser. My first '70s era Strat surprised me. I forgot that the contours of these guitars were pretty shallow. I asked the the forum, "Did I get taken?" I felt pretty dumb when I realized that this was how many, if not all Strat of this period were like this.

Maybe because this is a forum, and usually in forums discussions take place.

The way I see it, everyone has as much of a right to post what some might deem as an insignificant subjects as those who feel they shouldn't be up for discussion. And as some have stated, you just move on and ignore such postings.

Also, as another member has stated, isn't this thread about exactly what you dislike about this forum. I mean, why open it up for discussion to get 100 different opinions from 100 different users?

BUT what kills me is asking the same questions over & over & over. Like the fact they're a special and unique snowflake. they're just the decaying organic crap as the rest of us AND if they had awesome idea or insight, it would die a lonely death.

I agree, it can at times get redundant. Maybe that's why we need topics of this nature from time to time....to stir the pot
