But Jeff Beck likes that thick clubby profile a lot!

I'd really like to get my hands on a 1st run beck strat and try out the baseball bat neck it came with.....might be a dumb question but why does the Jeff beck signature strat come with a c shape neck now if he doesn't even use one himself???? Did fender put a c shape neck on it to sell more of them?

The actual signature model is a snapshot from one of his stage guitars.

His main axe is totally different than the standard and teambuilt custom artist versions Fender produces.

Jeff opted for a thinner C profile in 1999, he already used those Suhr stacked humbucker pickups since the mid-1990s. Trevor Wilkinson says he went back to the fat baseball bat neck in 2007.

For this tour Rhonda Smith no longer plays her Fender American Deluxe Jazz Basses onstage.
Apparently she signed an endorsement deal with Paul Reed Smith who gave her two of his new Kingfisher basses.

I played one of those about a million years ago. It was 'purple' and had the HSS Lace Sensor circuit. If you want a sense of that neck, from my memory, find a dealer who has one of the current American Vintage 1956 Stratocasters with the 10/56 V-neck. The Beck guitar might have even been fuller. At this point in my life, I've pretty much run out of steam trying to keep up with these artists and the changes they make in their gear. I can see how Beck, by virtue of that reversed head stock, will tweak his tone somewhat. It's a 'hat's off' to his continued exploration of new horizons in sound and technique. The manufacturers, however, are having a good time taking it to the bank with their 'signature' guitars. With this change I would personally reject the Fender Artist series version until they changed the neck to comply with what Beck is currently using. It's fair to expect that they be current. Absent that, they should pull the guitar completely.

She did use a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass on a couple of tunes.

I never seen Rhonda playing 5s and 6s on any Beck tour. :|

+1

It largely depends the song requiring a specific sound.

Rhonda brings at least two American Deluxe Jazzes onstage: black and transparent wine.

The transparent wine Deluxe is a very rare bird as it sports a maple neck as opposed to the now-discontinued regular production models which were featured with a rosewood fretboard.

I also noticed the nut is not the same as the one he uses....but ya,I honestly couldn't care less about signature guitars.i just wanted to feel out all the different necks fender offers and those seem to be what the dealers stock..kinda like road worn series lol...I'm wondering if maybe an after market neck from a company like warmoth would be a wise choice to buy and put on my strat.

Always found the '57 Roadworn neck comfortable. As far as a Warmoth aftermarket swap-in ...it's out of sight, out of hand.....unless you live in Washington State and can visit the factory.

I took the plunge and ordered a Warmouth Round 59 birdseye maple neck for a partscaster. I still don't have it totally assembled, so I don't know if I made a good choice or not.
I'll tell you this, it's dense as all hell. One of the #8 neck heel screws I got from Warmouth snapped in half as I was screwing it into the predrilled holes. It was going really slow and tight and then just let loose. I was able to extract the broken piece with no problem, luckily. I'm expecting this neck to sing.
