8 would be operator, 05 would be week, 6 would be year, according to viewtopic.php?t=20818
I have no idea if this decode system is right or not, but it seems more logical than the answer you got in the other forum.

It would be nice to get pics & more info of the guitar & pickups, you'd probably get more and better answers.
BTW, it certainly won't help getting answers here if you post things like "trying to find out what the numbers mean a**holes at the "F" forum don't give a rats $@!" to that other forum.

the poles on the p/u are 1 1 2 2 0 1 if you know what that means. had stayed away from this discussion forum for about a year cause of dillweeds posting crap like "I really want to buy a Strat but what kind?" or "What color Strat should I buy?" or "I don't like the sound of my pickups; should I swap em out?" I kept leaving smart*** comments then gave up coming here....

yup. want real answers when I have real questions. Playing & collecting guitars (I own 33 Strats, 7 Teles, a '66 Jaguar, a '63 Jazzmaster, & a '66 Mustang) isn't a hobby it's a passion. Don't get me started listing the Gi**ons, Kramers, Deans, an Ibanezs PLUS the countless Jazz, Presisions, Mustangs, Roland, Spector, Steinbergers, Rics, Ibanez, & Aria basses I own. When the other users asked what I considered non-questions that should have been personal choices, I quit dealing with this forum.....

I started to reply that a 1976 Fender Strat pickup should have flush pole pieces, not staggered.

But then I looked at your picture. The last digit of the code is a 2 not a 6. So the pickup is most likely from 1972.

Those codes weren't always consistently applied, so it can sometimes be uncertain. We start to see 6 digit pickup codes in the late '70s.
