I have a strat that has a solid body on the back, it is strung from the bridge, and the input jack is in the pick guard. Can someone give me any idea of the year of it

A serial number would be extremely helpful if it could be located on the guitar.

Does not look like a Fender Strat. Looks like someone got a Strat
syle body and put a Strat pickguard on it an put a jack in place
of the tone control. The volume and tone knob look new the switch
looks like old bakelight tip on there. What kind of tuners are there?

It certainly is a Fender .... 1983-1984 to be precise.

Some people say that this is the very LOWEST point in the history of the Stratocaster.

Interesting I think I would have to take that apart and see inside
because the pickguard looks to thick in the picture. Also photo of
the neck would be nice. I don't remember the last time I have seen
a revised strat from those dark days . CBS Also did they make it
in that color do you no?

Went to the Blue book of guitars one of my favorites. Here it is.
Standard Stratocaster CBS mfg 1983-85 alder body,21 fret maple
fingerboard or rosewood, pearl dot inlay, 4bolt neckplate small peghead
with silver logo, chrome plate die cast tuners , free flyte vibrato tailpiece
single ply wht pickguard.chrome harware, 3sng coil exposed pickups,
volume/tone control, 3 position switch, avail. in black, brown sunburst,
ivory,or sienna sunburst polyurethane finish. This model also featured
a vibrato system that was surface mounted and without vibrato back
cavity the cord receptor was mounted through the pickguard at a right
angle. 90% EXC. condition value 600.

It is a real strat. In the early 80's several types of strats had the plug where the second tone knob was. One was called the Bowling Ball strat. Google it.

Yeah, that's the one. Funky lookin. I've been told the quality was pretty bad, you had to look hard to find a good one.

Apparently those "new-fangled" trems could be touchy, but they did work okay.

They saved some bucks by not routing out the output jack cavity and by putting the output jack on the pickguard.

I never had the opportunity to pick one up. Had I, I would have routed out the output jack cavity and made it like a more "normal" strat.

They do not have a high book value for 25 years old. If I saw one
I think I would have to buy it just to have the CBS year because
you don't see them often plus I would like to no how it sounds. Were
they made in Japan? It does not say in blue book.
