I had a set of G&L Legacy pickups laying around and decided to install them in my MIM Standard Strat. My first time sodering a pickgaurd. Everything worked out fine except for the 5 way switch. The Ernie ball 5 way switch was NG. Replaced Ernie Ball 5 way with a OEM Fender 5 way. I used a 250K fender No load pot for bridge and middle and a 250K for neck. I wired my MIM Standard Strat using wiring dia for a 2012 American Standard Stratocaster. I have a TBX pot that I'm going to use in my next project. Guitar sounds great. I would recomend using only Fender OEM parts. The G&L Legacy pickups are the same specs as Tex-Mex pickups.

Ultimate Compliment....Clean Job...but beware...it's really a part of the insidious disease GAS!

:!: (buy me...I'm a Guitar Part you want/need/don't have...buy me) :!:

Someday you might try using Aged White or even darker Pup Covers and Knobs to blend with the darker tones of the Body & P-Guard.

I just wanted to see if I could solder the pickups and controls. I used only the parts I had at the moment. Also I like how the White looks on the tort pickgaurd and how the tort pickgaurd matches the rosewood fret board. I got a lot of compliments at my local open mic night. Everyone loved how the guitar looks. I was thinking of getting a black pickgaurd. I got the idea of using a black pickgaurd on a white strat from someone on this forum who posted pics of a black strat with Black/red/Black pickgaurd and all black plastic. I also saw a pic posted of a white strat with black pickgaurd and white plastic.

Black/red/black pickguard on a black body? I'll bet that was one of Xhefri's rebuilds - that gentleman has faultless visual taste! :D

I'm feeling gassy just thinking about it...

Anyway. Nice work, otis66. Kudos.

Cheers - C

I agree, it does look good!

Just expressing my POV on colors on a very clean first job.

There wouldn't be a such a large color palette available if we all liked White on Black.

As I think about it, my last two builds had white knobs on white pick guards, strictly Vanilla.

Though Aged White Knobs on a Green Pick Guard looked very nice on my former USA DLX. :)

Generally though, I want the Pick Guard to be bland and highlight the Body to the eye.
