Picked up this 2012 Olympic White American Standard off Craigslist. Not a scratch on it and it plays fantastic. She had already had it set up by a Luthier and for 10's which I like. She just decided not to continue learning to play guitar. Brought it home and installed the EMG Gilmour DG-20 loaded pick guard. Not sure I am crazy about the pearl pickguard that comes with the DG-20 system but it sounds fantastic! I love NGD'S!

Thanks. Think I'm going to change the PG next time I change strings.

Nice looking guitar. Just throw those EMG's away and you've got a keeper there.

+1

Great color!

Tortoise-shell or minty green would set that off beautifully.

Beautiful guitar! I also think it would look great with a tortoise shell pickguard.

What didn't you like about the stock pups?

Got to agree, tortoise shell on Olympic White is a match made in heaven!

Maybe it's just me but for some reason I've never liked the look of pickups with no pole pieces...

Which is why I never took a shine to Lace Sensors, EMG's, and rail-type pickups.

I don't mind the look of rail-types, way back in my hard-rock/shreddy days I had one of them Washburn N3 guitars (the Japanese-made Nuno Bettencourt model) and I really digged the Bill Lawrence bridge humbucker... then I grew up and graduated to single-coils! As far as I know most widely available rail-type pickups these days are humbuckers and I'm now a true single-coil fanatic, although there is a small juvenile/childish part of me that wants one of those new EVH striped models... must... resist... must... resist...

Thanks everyone and thanks for the PG recommendations. As far as the stock pickups. I have a 1988 Standard that I have the Lace Golds and Clapton mod. I have a Jeff Beck Signature that has the Hot Noiseless that I really like. I have an 89 Standard that has its OEM pickups. So on the new Strat I decided to (try) the Gilmour setup. I just like as many tones and options as possible. Nice thing about pickups is they can easily be switched out. On my other Strats they all have the rosewood too and the new white has the maple which I really like but also like the rosewood. Just glad I finally settled on my amp set up. I use a Fender Twin 65 reissue for my cleans and a Marshall JVM410HJS (Satch) signature amp for everything else.

I really like that pickguard. I think that may be the ticket with some vintage white knobs.

The tortoise looks good, but I always liked the minty green on the white, I guess I am a traditionalist. Either way, nice score and a fine looking guitar!

Anodized gold pickguard would look awesome on that, though it's not for everyone. Nice guitar too. I had the same one in black and it also came with the same loaded pickguard. Wasn't for me so I put the originals back in that also came with it but it still sounded great. Enjoy.
