Hi all.

A few months back I noticed very little, thin output from my 2009 American Standard Strat bridge pickup, after numerous checks for loose solder connections I still couldn't find the problem and the pickup read it's recommended DC resistance. I recently decided to upgrade the pickups to custom shop 69 ones. The low output is still evident, I touched the pole pieces with a screwdriver and the magnetic pull, after just a few hours installed on the guitar, feels considerably less on the bridge pickup. Am I going mad? What could have caused this? I tried the bridge pickup wired to the neck position on the 5 way switch to see if it was indeed a wiring issue but the bridge pup was still very low output. Thank you in advance

Jack

have you ruled out the 5 way switch is making a solid connection?

Yep, it literally is a complete loss of magnetism specifically on the E A and D string pole pieces on the bridge pickup

Something strange here maybe you are going mad!
What is the resistance value .. It should be around 6kohm?
Since all of the 69s are the same install a known good one e.g the neck pickup in the bridge spot.
Be very careful, you may be damaging the fine pickup wiring removing and reinstalling them.
Check it and if ok leave it there and check it later.
It may be handy to post some shots of your wiring as well.
Assuming there is nothing strange about your circumstances it would be most unusual for one pickup to lose its magnetism this quickly and very unlikely for a second time.
There's not a Delorean parked out front is there? :D

Think it was just a dodgy new pickup and sorted now thanks! Must have been caused by the magnetic flux from the flux capacitor in the Delorean parked outside!
