Anyone else remember seeing this on the American Standard product page after Winter NAMM? I believe it used a dummy coil to make the Strat noiseless. Anyway, did anyone else notice it and what ever happened to it?

Yes, I saw the page for the Super Strat back in January (IIRC).

You weren't dreaming.

I don't know how long it was "up," but I only saw it on one day and the next time I visted the product pages it was gone.

I can only guess that Fender decided that they weren't ready to introduce it. I tried searching for photos or mention of it at the Jan '08 NAMM, but I couldn't find anything.

Here's something I just found:

A little more investigation turned up some more people who saw that "Super Strat" new product. One guy copied down the specs. Here they are, dig it:

American Super Strat®

0110412

The American Standard Series American Super Strat guitar is one of the finest instruments in the line, with special circuitry and a variety of dazzling finishes. Still present are the hand-rolled fingerboard edges and staggered tuning machines for playability, tone and stability, and a trio of American Strat single-coil pickups with five-way switching deliver the goods. Special features include:

*A two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with improved bent-steel saddles and a copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain.

*A new neck treatment—tinted for a richer presentation, with the rosewood fingerboard buffed to a high gloss. The back of the neck still has that silky satin finish.

*A thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance.

*No-load tone control for middle and bridge pickups, with 12 dB active mid-boost circuit and dummy coil under the pickguard for hum cancellation.

*A new Fender-exclusive SKB molded case.

Three-color Sunburst, Black, Candy Cola, Charcoal Frost Metallic and Sunburst and Blizzard Pearl finishes.
