Look, I was in NO WAY trying to be offensive. It was simple curiosity.

Like, if I asked you to make me a relic and in doing so, drop the guitar down a flight of steps to simulate damage over time...

...would I pay by the step, or is there a per-staircase price?

See this is what I mean. You think the art of properly relicing a guitar is buring it with cigarettes and dropping it down a flight of stairs. That is only further showing your ignorance.

Trying to correct others ignorance and explaining how they are being offensive to other forum members is not being a "freak". However the nastiness of some of you, the obsessive extreme negativity some of you promote here is beyond freak. Heck I have seen a few new posters never want to come back here again after YOU post presumptuous bullshit and offend people you don't even know, jump to conclusions and blanket generalize. Cut the crap already and TRY being nice for a change. You probably have a lot to offer but this forum was not put here so we can insult each others personal tastes and be offensive know it all opinionated pricks.

I'm simply trying to understand, and thus better appreciate, your art.

Like, if you punch a guitar; brass knuckles,...or no?

Is there any aesthetic value to strangling your guitar a little?

It brings to mind that news story about that female astronaut who was apprehended while driving to Florida, and they found duct tape, rope, saws, plastic bags and diapers in her car trunk.

It turns out she was actually just headed to go relic some guitars...

You say that you are trying to understand, but all you are doing is ranting bro'

@ ebaysux, try posting your thread in the Lounge section. Something like "Relic appreciation thread" You posted some great examples back there, but this thread is getting pretty uncomfortable.
Goodonya ...Mark.

For the staircase, probably. For the cigarette burns, Fender advertised the Custom Shop SRV "Lenny" replica as even having the correct brand cigarettes used for the burn marks.
So there might be enough ignorance to go around for both of you.

My 3 Strats are pristine. I'm not about to take to them with a belt sander. Yet I'm still fascinated by the passage of time and the methods used to replicate the effects. Hopefully in the future we can have a rational conversation on the subject.

I am not ignorant to the fact that some relics have cigarette burns but you are talking about a specific "replica" relic model and that is the only reason they put the burn there. As far as relics in general it is not a requirement to put the cigarette burn on the headstock nor does just putting a burn mark and tossing it down a flight of stairs constitute a proper "relic" job.

And hence.... we witness more ignorance.

We will have that rational conversation as soon as some members here stop flaunting ignorance and open their minds...or if not, they should just avoid commenting on the topic since to wit what they are doing is fast approaching "trolling" by every definition of an internet troll.

It seems they totally FAIL to understand why some appreciate relics and that it is not just a matter of taking belt sanders and cigarettes to a pristine strat LOL.

I again can not express this enough to the "haters"......it is just a freaking piece of wood and each and every one of us deserves the right to have that piece of wood finished any way we like without being called morons, fools, suckers, ripoffs and idiots etc. No one is demanding anyone else to like it, just have a little common decency and respect for others who do and if you can not understand why they do or at least open your opinionated mind to it and stop living with blinders on...then bugger off and find another forum full of ignorance and intolerance where that kind of judgmental attitude/personal attacks and offensiveness is more prone to be tolerated.

You fail to consider the possibility that you may simply be perpetuating a silly fad, which will be shown for what it is one day soon.

You sir, may simply be the metaphorical wearer of a polyester contrast-stitched leisure suit.

Relics have already been around far longer than any fad. They're not going away any time soon.

The only fad I see happening here is a handful of pretentious, obnoxious, sarcastic trolls that do not know when to quit. Should I put the gloves on yet? lol

Nah kidding I just don't care anymore. Fine, you don't like relics and anyone who does is a fake tool ripoff sucker fool idiot etc etc. I am glad you think that. It makes us all so happy and proud of you. Make sure you express your feelings clearly on the forum that people who do not dislike the same thing as you are morons. Because it says in the rules to make sure to be as offensive a $@!& as possible and then keep pushing it more and more.
