I suspect that the seller just liked having the Fender CS logo on the guitar. The only person he/she is trying to fool is his/herself.

my 2 cents, but the entire thing is fishy and misleading...

Calling it a "Strat" where really it's a "parts-o-caster"

Even though its a partsocaster its still a Strat.

Strat is Stratocaster, that is a registered trademark by FMIC.

I dunno ... he never calls it a Fender. And $450 for a nice Squier with Texas Specials and possibly some other mods is not terribly out of line. The pickups cost $200 new all by themselves.

+1

I built, played and eventually sold a parts-o-caster. Things I made clear to the buyer:

This is not a Fender guitar.
This is a guitar with Fender pickups, bridge, and tuning keys.
This guitar has the following parts...
This guitar was signed by Robert Cray (Really nice guy who hung out with some fans after his set). I also offered him a modified Hwy1, but he liked the parts-o-caster better. It was a really great guitar, but I needed money to buy a '76 Strat.

no, it's not.. sorry. You can call it what ever you want, but the reality is a Stratocaster is a registered trademarked item, as already pointed out. This is a strat copy at best.

I have ZERO problem with a person "Building their own guitar" just as long as it's not misleading when they try to sell it.

(As you see, he is using both a Fender and a Custom shop logo? Seriously? LOOK at the picture.. or at least a custom shop neck, that he slapped on heaven knows what, but then again I've never seen a CS neck like that -- it's a flat out farce.. my opinion, you are welcomed to your own.. hey just look at the TITLE of this Post -- "What is this?" That proves the point does it not?)
