A few professional guitarists I know who swear by those MIM 50s tell me all they do is a tremolo block and saddle swap, nut and pickups. They tell me that after those mods it is every bit as good as an MIA reissue for way less money. Of course setup is critical. Here is one of my friends (Patrick Vega) who uses those for live and recordings. He is from Austria but is based out of LA and does shows there. The guitar sounds pretty darn good to me. (and good example of both clean and dirty sound from it)

Then why don't YOU buy one and do it?

Incredible though it may seem, there are people who don't like EMG's and feel no need to chase somebody else's tone.

The OP's new guitar is a beautiful instrument......just the way it is.

Everytime I see a CAR 50s Strat I feel a sudden GAS for EMGs, that's the explanation!

I think what Retro ment to say was that the pick-ups that come with it are not all that bad, and not everyone like EMG's.

I for one HATE EMG's, they just suck the life out of the tone "I" am looking for. This is not to say that EMG's are bad, there just not good for me.....and many other like me.

But this is the reason we all don't play the same guitar or the same music, right?

Well I posted a message but didn't seem to show up, so if it shows up later, ignore it. lol

Yeah I love that guitar, I wouldn't change a thing.

Looks like you play FSX also? I play that quite a bit myself.

Thanks again for all the comments. Yes the ashtray bridge cover is something i will look into. It should complete the look. As for modding the guitar, I'm happy with it as is for now, though at least I have the option in the future. Im thinking of a tweed cable, and a nice leather strap and some strap locks for now.

And yes JasonSD, I'm quite a fan of FSX. Though I don't play it so much now because my PC cant handle it, and I cant afford a new one because I keep spending my wages on guitars and accessories :D

Here's my sunburst 50's Classic Series Strat which I've upgraded and modded to resemble the instrument that Buddy Holly played on the Ed Sullivan Show......

This is a one-owner guitar from 1998 that I bought new in early '99. I've probably logged a 1000 gigs with it.

Nice guitar, love the sunburst finish. That would have been my second choice after candy red. 1000 gigs is impressive too :D

Here's my 50's Classic Series Strat in Surf Green......

Same basic appointments and upgrades as with the Buddy Holly tribute guitar, except for even hotter DiMarzio pickups. I plan on refinishing this one in Taos Turquoise someday.

Love that colour also, really gives it that surf vide. Nice to have one of each. hmm what to get next, maybe a 60's rosewood Strat ?, or a Telecaster ? oh the options :D

Edit: if i buy another guitar my family will make me move out. Them = "You only have two hands Conor", Me = "they are nice to look at though" :D

I know what you mean, game is like 8 years old and still hard to get decent frame rates on new computers. You can get good fps if you run the stock game, but then it looks like crap.
I just got the ORBX Ireland scenery and did a test flight out of Dublin like a week ago. Think that was my first flight in that area.
