Hello all. Ive seen how everyone seems to love NGD's on this site so I've decided to share my new baby with everyone. Hope you like it.

Its a classic series candy apple red 50's Stratocaster. The nitro finish on it is the best candy apple red I've ever seen though, simply amazing. Quick question though, what year in the 50's best reflects this example? I was thinking 57 because of the colour but I'm no expert. Just curious.

Hope you all enjoy.

Beautiful!
Candy Apple Red is one of my favourite guitar colours, and it looks great against the maple fretboard.
I've only got one guitar in that colour though - it's a Mexican Standard model from around '94.

When you copy the IMG links from PhotoBucket, no need to add additional IMG bookends after pasting the links into your post, they were already there. Adding the additional IMG on each end is why your pictures didn't show.

Sweet guitar, the CAR is beautiful. 8) The BT Strat is excellent also, one of my favorites. Is that a Pro Series case? I have the black one, the inside is not as plush.

Then why don't YOU buy one and do it?

Incredible though it may seem, there are people who don't like EMG's and feel no need to chase somebody else's tone.

The OP's new guitar is a beautiful instrument......just the way it is.

Firstly, thanks shimmilou for fixing the picture issue. it was bugging me that I couldn't remember how to do it. Furthermore, i knew that was what everyone really wanted to see, so i appreciate that. Secondly, thanks all for the nice comments.

I know everyone says this when they first get a new guitar, but it really is possibly the best Strat I've ever played. Which is funny considering that when looking around for the right guitar, both American standard and Deluxe models were within my budget. Though I did want a maple neck, candy red and a vintage vibe. I was, like most people I'm sure, under the impression that buying American automatically meant a better instrument, but for me at least, that proved not the case. Mexico done it again for me.

Again it would be nice if anyone had any ideas on what year these are based on. Ive been searching around for answers to no avail. Just curious I suppose.

Oh and to answer some of the questions and comments, the case came with the guitar so I'm not too sure if its pro serious or not. What I can say is that I was expecting it to feel a lot cheaper then it actually does. I'm very happy with the quality of it. And as for pick ups. Ive never tried EMG's but hate the look of em. The lack of visible pole pieces looks odd to me. I was under the impression that the pickups this guitar came with would have to be swapped out for something of a better quality. But they really are proving me wrong, they sound great.

Again, thanks for all your comments. I knew tons of pictures would go down well.

Happy playing :)

The 50's Classic Strat is *roughly* based on an instrument from the 56/57/58 era. Earlier than that and it would have the round string tree (ala the Telecaster), the "miniskirt" control knobs, and the football-shaped switch tip for the pickup selector. Later than that and it would have rosewood furniture. I have several of these guitars (all modded to near-US specs) and they're great platforms. And aside from the MIA re-issues and the CS offerings, they're really the only Strats built according to Leo's original design. With a couple of significant (but modestly-priced upgrades) you've got a guitar that's the near-equal of an AVRI at a mere fraction of the cost.

Thanks for the comments regarding age. I wasn't far off the ball so. Thought it was around then. And about comparing them to American made instruments. Personally I cant see much difference between mine and an American Standard in terms of quality. Obviously its comparing a modern guitar to a vintage one, but when looking at the quality, I couldn't justify the extra money. What parts would likely need to be replaced to bring this up on par with American reissues ?

Thought id post two more pictures. there were originally meant to be posted but i forgot them. Oops. The Gibson guitar below is my other favourite. Gotta love em both now.

That looks like my 1957 Les Paul Junior (yours is a bit less beat to hell than mine).

If you like the tone from the stock MIM pickups, your Strat will serve you well. I routinely replace mine with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage noiseless types. Visually, these pickups look just like the OEM single-coils so the instrument's vibe remains unmolested. They're hotter than stock pickups, deliver realistic Strat tones, and are a quiet as a church mouse. And I always upgrade the bridge to a steel trem block (as per the Strat's original specs). You *may* find that wiring the bridge pickup to the lower tone control provides more sonic flexibility for soloing. BTW, the "ashtray" cover fits your bridge (if you're so inclined). I never play mine with the cover installed but they look tres kewl snapped on the bridge when sitting in the case.
