In the early 1990's I bought a new "Standard" Stratocaster, It has all the features of what is now the mexican standard strat, but has a Made in USA
printed on the head. It also has 500k pots in it.

No one seems to know anything about this guitar. Were some "Mexican" standards made in the U.S.A. before the mex. factory got completely underway and does this add to the value of the guitar?

Any information is welcome

When Fender management bought the company back from CBS in the early ‘80s, part of their strategy to save the brand was to restructure the core range of models coming out of the American plant. Part of this was the launch of the American Standard Stratocaster, meant to be the fundamental model from which all others derived. That is what you have.

Later they brought out a Standard Strat from the Mexican operation: this was and still is know just as The Standard. Nevertheless, there was confusion between the two, so eventually they renamed the American Standard as the American Series. With concentration, we sort of knew where we were for a while.

However. They have recently re-launched the American Series as the American Standard again. So now we have the Standard, the American Standard, and for that matter a Squier Standard. Confused? You will be…

However, yours is a legit MIA Strat. Which is probably all you wanted to know.

I have a 1990 Fender "Guitars and Basses" 8-page catalog (pre-Frontline, I guess). There are 6 Stratocaster models listed: two Vintage series ('57 and '62), three Ultimate Stratocasters (Strat Plus, Deluxe Strat Plus, and Strat Ultra), and the American Standard Stratocaster.

Here is a scan of the "Standards" page:
