I intentionally blow smoke onto my guitars to give them that mojo patina. It is worth more that way. Also a good burn on the headstock adds 10-15% value. I would store my guitars in a smokey club if I could to speed up the process. 8)

Let that guitar buy its own smokes......they're too damn expensive these days!

They are actually not too bad where I live since you can get them "under the table". However I recently got back from Norway visiting family and cigarettes are like 20 bucks a pack after considering exchange rate, taxes and fees. I brought those electronic ones with me. Really want to quit altogether.

Which is one of the reasons why the majority of smokers in Scandinavia don't buy pre-made cigarettes, but roll their own. Another reason is that the tobacco is fresher.

But does it speed up the mojo/patina process?

Think of it this way ... At least some good came out of your smoking: a cool aged pickguard and knobs. You should keep the old stuff on the guitar as it looks very good to me. But we all violently AGREE with you that you definitely need to stay away from those cigarettes ... as you don't want that pickguard any darker.

Just so you know... it's not just tabacco smoke that will stain your guitar, at least that's what they tell me. I am not speaking from experience. 8)

I like the colour of it, my Strat Ultra has the same colour- probably from smokey bars or homes previously :)

But no matter which way you look at it, there ain't no future in smoking. "Yeah yeah yeah... I'll smoke if I want to.. Blah blah blah... Young fella doesn't know what he is on about...." lol

Seriously, smokers- the only person kidding is yourself. I quit after 10 years, 3-4 packs 30's per week. I was slowly burning the wick on the other end of my life.. Shortening it every day... little by little... I've probably sealed the deal with cancer later on in my life. The most stupid thing I ever did in my life was start smoking, and it always will be the most stupid thing.

Give up smoking, buy a guitar with the savings and life a healthy life Win/win!! 8)

Better health does not imply happiness. Knocking years off my life is a small price to pay for being happier. For people who advocate a healthy life style, remember what George Carlin asked: "Have you ever seen a happy jogger?"

I've already overstayed my time here on earth, and I can say that the absolutely worst and most worthless time were the years I tried to live healthy. I wasted years of my youth that I will never have a chance to re-live, properly, with fun. Luckily, I got struck with a disease that put a stop to that, and I took up life's small vices, and became much happier. A generation later, and I still am. In five years I may be gone, but I live today, and want to be happy today.
Which is why I smoke, use a vaporizer where I can't smoke, and snuff when I can't use a vaporizer. I sleep with snuff so I don''t have to wake up without nicotine in my system.
Will I live until 80+? Probably not, but I won't spend 30 years at the goodbye home, my mind slowly deteriorating either.

To paraphrase Lemmy Kilmister:

You know I'm born to lose, and smoking is for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever.
And don't forget the hookah!

I quite like the look of the tarred scratch plate, especially on the Burst finish. But entirely up to the OP if you change it to a clean one :)
