I Caught this video of Clapton playing a what I think is burgandy myst Strat. I had never seen this guitar before, and it got me thinking about the colors Clapton choses for his guitars. Take a look at this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6Puj5v-kjA

On a related note: I prefer my Strat colors to be a little more treditional. But when I ordered my EC signature Strat back in January 2001, I ordered mine is Candy Green.

Let me know what colors you really like in your guitars, or what colors you regret/diappointed after purchasing.

The two best colours I own are metallic blues - one Aquamarine Blue and one Gun Metal Blue. Way classier than any solid colour or sunburst other than Sienna Sunburst.

Pretty strat - it doesn't appear to be a Fender; I think that might be a Giffins. He had a couple of them back in the early/mid 80s he used for alt tunings/slide/general backups ot the original "Blackie"; I know he had a blue one (might have been Lake Placid Blue, but it could have been darker) that he was using for slide work; he's pictured with that one on a Guitar Player cover from circa 1985/86 (Behind the Sun era). Also nice to see Albert Lee with his old Tele in that clip - nothing wrong with his EBMMs, but they don't have that Tele tone.

EDIT: I've been going for some less common colors these days - my American Standard Strat is sonic blue (one of those Guitar Center FSRs from last summer). In my EBMM days I did gravitate toward some of their more unusual colors like "blue dawn" (pearl blueburst) and "olive gold" (an olive gold finish with gold pearl flakes giving off gold overtones). I've always liked burgundy mist and at various points in time I really wanted a 7-up green/candy green Clapton, but wound up with a Sherwood Green AVRI '62 from back when that was a stock color (mine was a 1999; it was a stock color from 1998-2000). Part of me wishes I had that green AV '62 back.

I get positive comments every time I take my Sunset Metallic out to play. It really looks good under lights.
I fell in love with Daphne Blue when I saw Clapton playing one the first time I saw him in concert and had to have one. I'm now building a partscaster in Daphne Blue, so I guess I like it!
Generally, I'm partial to natural wood finishes.

These are all great replies.

Drew365 - I'm not famliar with the Sunset Metallic

John C - I think that olive gold color may be called, "Jade Pearl."

My favorites are as follows:
2004 50th Anniversary American Series Strat in 2-color-sunburst.
1975 Strat w/rosewood fingerboard in 3-color sunburst (which I traded the '04 and a PRS McCarty for).
a '62 Sonic Blue Strat which I foolishly did not purchase when I had the chance.
And ofcourse my Green Clapton strat.

Fender calls their current metallic green color "Jade Pearl". EBMM did call their color "Olive Gold" and it's darker/more gold than the Fender color.

Sunset metallic is that pearl cherry burst finish used on American Deluxe Strats.

Here's the sunset metallic from the American Deluxe page:

I can't get to my photobucket account to post that EBMM Silhouette Special I had in Olive Gold but here's a Luke III in that color:

I like that Eric finally discovered it's the talent in him and not the old guitars that makes his tone. I prefere all the differeny colored guitars he had been seen with over the years since his "Blackie" Days. I never cared for black or sunburst guitars myself.

I guess I am a bit boring, but I always liked the two tone sunbursts! But the one I get the most comments on when playing is the Aztec Gold...

This thread started out with a nice EC Video and Paris asks a great question...but this thread needs PICTURES!!!!

Nice! Pewter was the other color I might have chosen for the Clapton Strat.

The video is an extract from the Chas & Dave show, dating from 1982.

Clapton performed two songs, Slow Down Linda and Good Night Irene, with the former being included on the Money and Cigarettes LP, released in 1983 and the latter resurrected in an acoustic unplugged form in 2013.

In total EC chose initially three colours for his signature model: Pewter, Torino Red and Candy Green. Black and Olympic White were added in 1991 and 1994 respectively.

Candy Green was dropped from the color chart in 2010.
