I'd like to hear from fellow Strat players who have opinions about and experience to share about this new technology.

Admittedly I'm Old School, but the thought of using Flash Cards to make music strikes me as very artificial.

cheers!

The cards just change the wiring. Same thing you could do with a soldering iron.

A couple videos from our favorite British Shills....

Are those guys really shills? I have watched a few youtubes of them doing blind tests and looking like complete dopes confusing cheap squires with custom shop guitars. Why would they do that if they were shills?

I've no idea. What I do know is that if I didn't make that comment someone would come in and call them shills. This is a nice change of pace.

I watched a little of the vid you left and it seems these cards are confusing them too lol.

Thanks... I get that. Innovative idea and all that.

But in reality, the Deal Breaker for me is that it has no default mode... Broken Card, Current/Static-spiked Card, Missing Card = NO SOUND !!

I just don't see it as an improvement, so I won't be lining up for one anytime soon.

As always, other's opinions may vary.

cheers!

I'm thinking the most likely failure is just losing the cards. Noted that Chappers managed to lose the door when he was switching cards. And you know someone is going to drunkenly conan one of those things out of the guitar and into oblivion. I think the idea is interesting but expensive. If they do more cards it might be interesting but not as is.

I for one like the innovation and also like that Fender is attempting something cutting edge and different (and also glad it is not a digital effect) but I am too much of a purist for dealing with inserting cards into my guitars to change wiring configurations. And yes I am one of those who would lose them and break them. Plus I can't stand the look of that compartment in the body granted when playing no one would see it.

I am curious if this new feature has worked as a selling point. Anyone have sales figures?

To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.

I see it all now..
Personality card strats maybe don't sell that well.
Fender in return stop making them due to poor sales...
30 years from now because they are rare they become a collectors item and fetch crazy prices.
Still not tempting enough for me to buy one.
That's just me though and I'm not knocking the idea. :D

That is true however it is not like every Strat made has to have that card slot which if all the line had those with no other choice would be not so good. It is just a matter of more choices as beauty is in the eye (or ear) or the beholder. It could be worse and they could start only making strats with floyd roses, veneer flame tops and HH configurations..
