I have a mint 1988 Standard Stratocaster that I switched out the original pickups for the Lace Golds with the TBX mod. It has the rosewood finger board. Now I want to buy a new Stratocaster with possibly a V type neck and a maple fingerboard. I also love the fat neck on my 57 RI Les Paul so wouldn't mind a nice fat neck either. I then want to put my 1988 back to 100 percent original, take the Lace Golds with TBX and install in whatever I get. I was looking at the Deluxe V but I think it already has upgraded electronics. The Clapton model does too. Need some recommendations and thanks.

My first thought was the Clapton model. I own a candy green one with gold Lace Sensors, and I really like it. It was my main guitar for several years. Infact, it's the only guitar I will not part with. I'm a fan of the pickup the current Clapton Strat uses, but they might be your thing. What I would do is test drive the Clapton. If you like it; buy it. Then see which pickups you like better in the guitar.

I was actually just thinking the same thing. I really do like the Lace's and who knows I may like what comes in the current EC. If not they are easy enough to switch out for the Lace PUs. Thanks and wise recommendation.

I recently bought an EC Artist (with TBX & mid boost circuits). I'm not familiar with the Lace pickups, but the noiseless ones on this git sound great. I'm very happy with the versatility of sounds. I really like the soft V neck. The neck feels thin to me and the radius seems smaller than Fenders I've tried or owned. If you like a fat, wide neck than this might not be the guitar for you

I agree with you about the EC Strat. I'm not a fan of the current pickups, but it is the most versitile guitar I own. The neck is perfect for my time T-rex hands.

If you're looking for a fat neck try the American Vintage '56. It has what is described as a "thick soft V." I've tried it and it is a palm-filler. Pricey, though.

Thanks guys. I do like a fat neck but also like the thin neck on my SG. I also have no problems with the neck on my Standard Strat. How would you compare the neck on the American Standard vs the EC? Thanks. If I didn't live way out in no mans land I would go try them at GC or something. I will research that 56 too.
