You have discovered the road to eternal enlightenment, young jedi.

Surely it depends on the type of leather goods...

Do what I do just move them around alot so she cant get a good count on them. Then when you get a new one you just have to say Ive had it for awhile then move it and she will forget about it. If that dont work play dumb.

This has been great reading. Seriously, when I talk with guys about guitars I hear the same thing over and over: "If my wife says i buy another she is going to kill me," My wife says I have too many so I have to thin the herd," Etc. Etc. Here is what my wife and I worked out about 15 years ago. We set up a monthly budget for bills and saving, plus we agreed that each payday I got a percentage of my pay for "me"—a monthly allowance that I can do what ever I want with. I can save it, spend it on what ever, how ever I want. It was my business what I did with that money.

We started out with $200 a month and I opened my own checking account. I save it for a few months then bought a nice guitar. I later flipped the guitar, made a little on it and bought another one. I saved. Down the road I save and bought more. If I ended up with 10 guitars bought with my allowance, she could not say boo. It took the stress off our relationship about how I spent "our" money because now I had "my" money in which nothing could be said. Sometimes I take her out on "my" money and instead of "our" money. I suggest this too all married couples. She she has an allowance too. And then we have "our" money that is used for general things, just like before we set up our personal allowances.

When my wife and I were first married (some time ago) I owned a Black and White MIM Tele and an amp. A little later I purchased a Strat also Black and White. I placed the Tele in the closet and the Strat on the stand by the amp. This worked great so I bought a Black and White Fender Bass and only brought it out when the other two were in the closet. I continued on this path for a couple of years and then made the mistake one day of bringing home a RED Strat. I placed it on the stand next to the amp and the others in the closet. My wife came home from work that day and said "YOU'VE BOUGHT ANOTHER GUITAR?". It was at this point my sickness was revealed. She being very good natured and very understanding now laughs about it. Many guitars later I am now so confident that I recently brought home a White and Black Tele. The moral to this story, if you're Red Strat decides to come out of the closet, be sure the wife is at work.
