Fellow Strat players!

i recently bought a 2012 American Standard Olympic White Maple Strat.
And i was wondering if anybody knows by chance if the routing underneath the pickguard would be a swimming pool? (HSH)

I would like to know because i have a DiMarzio SD bridge pickup (F-Spaced) laying around here that i would like to install in the bridge position.

I know Hotrails are a option, but i would have to spend another €80,- for that.

The pickguard would be changed of course if it has a pool routing!

Faster to remove all pickguard 's screws and just pull up pickguard without removing strings than waiting for a ( right ? ) answer .

It's not a swimming pool route but it is HSH so you shouldn't have any issues adding the humbucker. The old American Standards from the 80s and 1990s (up until about 1999) had a large open swimming pool rout; Fender seems to have "phased in" the HSH routing during late 1998 and 1999. I have always assumed that Fender works through a stockpile of bodies in each color; as the swimming pool routed bodies in a given color were used up the next batch would have had the HSH routing so some colors changed over before other colors.

Since Squiers are routed for HHH Fender should adopt the three humbucker routing on their USA-made guitars and put the first American Strat to feature three full-sized humbuckers into production (though we know FMIC also sells HHH pickguards in addition to the existing SSS, H, HSS, HH and HSH formats).

Personally I never seen a genuine HHH Strat pickguard in the products page. Ditto for the HHH routed bodies.

If you want a hollow-body electric why don't you just buy a goddamm ES-335 and call it a day?

The Squiers do have a swimming pool route, technically called a universal route.

Fender does not make or sell an HHH pickguard that I know of. But there are a few companies that will make one for you...or you can do what I did on that Frankensquire and use a dremel, file and sandpaper for a few hours. I was inspired to do the HHH because that squire had the "universal" route but on the next one I am doing is a full size standard Fender body which oddly enough has an HHS route, not an HSH. But it's all getting routed out anyhow for the pups. The body I am going to use is that sunburst MIM at the bottom of the picture. Might as well put that MIM to use.

Because what you need to remove to convert an HSH to HHH is negligible. Might reduce the weight by a gram. Certainly does not make it a hollow body

I always wondered why Fender neglected us 3 large humbucker lovers on the Strat but gave it to the tele guys.....

Guess that is why I am making them myself.

In my book it's blasphemy, plain and simple.

Case closed.
