I just got a like new American Deluxe Fat Strat 2001 Sienna Sunburst with Rosewood neck and I'm a beginner so I have a question or two-

What is the difference between the Fat Strat and the HSS- are they one and the same?

What kind of tremolo is on this? I've never had any use for one up to this point (I'm a beginner) but I suspect it's not something that can be easily swapped for a non-tremolo bridge? It didn't come with the arm but I gather a "pop in" arm is the correct one for this model?

Am I going to have trouble if I use 11's for strings? I don't know what's on there now except they need to be replaced and I have a new set of 11's on hand.

What would have come with the guitar when it was originally purchased? I printed the owner's manual from the website but is seems somewhat generic in it's content.

Thanks in advance!

The fat strat is HSS. You will need a pop in arm if your planning on using the trem. If your not planning on using it, take it to a tech and have him "block" the tremolo or add springs to make it more stable. If you're going to change the string guage your going to need to adjust the intonation to make sure it's in tune all the way up and down the neck. This will require a tech also since your a begginer. Eventually you'll be able to do that yourself with a tuner and a screwdriver.

A fat strat and a HSS strat is the same thing.

...If you want to disable your tremolo (which is, what's called a 2-point tremolo, in your case) all you have to do is unscrew the backplate and tighten the 2 big screws you see (or add more springs) to make it flush with the body. You might not understand what I'm on about, but once you open the back up, it'll be pretty clear.

11's might be a bit too thick to start on, but if you do choose to use 11's, then you might want to get your guitar set up by a pro ( you'll need that done anyways if you want to disable your tremolo).

...And for what comes with the guitar....you should have a hardshell case, a wipe cloth, a guitar cable, and a strap (I could be leaving something out, but I think that's most of the things that should come with it anyways).

I hope that helped.

EDIT: You beat me to it cryingstrat!
