Ah...yup...that's exactly what I was thinking...

It would be cool for Craiglist to have a comments section under each ad.

It would be chaos but a lot of these people selling fakes would have a hard time, and we would have a lot less people coming to the site asking to identify their guitars.

I don't think so. He goes on and on about how much it is worth. And ... for the record ... I have a couch that looks more like a 1962 Strat than that guitar he is selling.

Agree. Even a strat novice should be able to tell from 50 yards away that is not a 62/63..heck I question if it is even a USA Fender at all....the neck is certainly not any kind of Fender and even if were not so obvious from the headstock alone there should be no skunk stripe on a 62/3.. Oddly enough that ad is still posted granted it has not been updated since posted May 24th.

I would be curious to have a peek under the pickguard and routes, under the neck etc for giggles but my gut tells me that thing is pretty worthless and something about the curves/contours just seems off..certainly that paint job is so wrong...so wrong. As well as the pickguard. Also the seller mentions a serial number..I wonder if he means whatever is taped onto the neck plate....don't think they did that in the 60s lol.

If by some miracle the body were to be authentic the best it would bring with that paint job is a few thousand and that would depend on if it were routed or not. Something looks funky on the upper left hand side by the edge of the pickguard like an oversized route. Of course if any of the pups, pots or switches were from 62/3 it would add a few more thousand but not much of a chance on that abortion.

There would also be a lot of badmouthing from competitors. We see enough of that already, but at least the feces throwers have to create new ads to smear their competitors.

Aren't those "State of the Art" edition strats collectors items?

EDIT: Joking aside I did a quick google search and found another... http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/stratoc ... uitar.html

Seems it is a real cheap "kind of" Strat copy and according to the post it was offered at 10 bucks. Kind of a little better deal then $30,000 LOL !

I have a feeling that ad was a hoax. There is no way the person who got that guitar could believe it is worth 30 grand even if Helen Keller.

Why not? Nothing like a bunch of flea market guitars taking up space. I actually have a really cheap looking acoustic no name and a really cheap looking possibly 30-40+ year old made in Japan Bass with "Saturn" on the headstock that a friend asked me to hold for him while he was moving...and never came back to get them.
