I really hate these guitars. One of two things are happening here. 1. The buyer doesn't know what he has. 2. The buyer is a fraud.

At least in this case, there's a big chance nobody will get screwed.

But maybe the seller did, or he's just smoking some really bad stuff.

My biggest concern is that some sucker who is new to the guitar, and has heard the name, "Fender" is going to spend real money on a piece-o-caster. I wanted to use another word, but rules being what they are...

I recently sold a guitar I built from parts. It was an Warmoth neck and body and Fender parts. I was very honest with the guy and told him, "This is not a Fender Stratocaster. This is my copy of a '62-ish Stratocaster." I sold the guitar for $600.

The guitar had been my main guitar for years, but I wanted a '70s era Strat and needed to sell it. It had a amber stained body; compound radius birds eye maple neck, with rosewood fret board and abilone inlay; medium jumbo frets; hand shaped bone nut (by Phil Jacoby at Philtone Guitars), Fender locking tuning keys, CS Texas Special pups, vintage Fender bridge and aged plastic parts, and a nitrocellulose torrishell pickguard.

Oddly enough, I gave him the option buy my Black '07 HWY1 Strat with CS '69 pups, all black parts and a maple neck. A total '70s looking guitar. The HWY1 was cheaper, but he still wanted the parts-o-caster.

If you are going sell a parts-o-caster, be honest with the buyer about what you are selling.

Infact, I have a few guitars on e-bay right now, and made sure to list every fact about the guitars and posted many photos. I want my customers to be happy with their purchase. Alright, I'll get off my soap box now.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Anyone with that much money to spend on a guitar will not be fooled by a fake as bad as that.

My money's on the latter circumstance.

Yeah I think he was meant to type $300.00
anyone looking to buy a vintage 62ish Guitar and looking to spend that kind of money would be a collector and know what they are doing.
Also buying a "Vintage" guitar for any web site like that I would want it to be certified by an authorised dealer first..

he clearly states that it's more expensive than his car....

....but judging by the photo of his room, i'd say he owns a 200$ car.

Interesting the Chinese characters in his contact line.. that's hint 1

I always "enjoy" looking at peoples pictures and seeing what is in the background more than what they took the picture of..
I like the un-made bed and you can see piles of dirty clothes on the floor too.

Alot of morons like that just do it to get reactions from people looking on Craigslist. There is some guy ony my local Craigslist that keeps posting a Starcaster for $1000. I just ignore the ad. Like Gilgafrank said... anyone with 30 grand to spend would not give the ad a second thought!!

I've been in contact with the buyer and informed him of the truth about his guitar. He thanked me, saying that he had been given the guitar by a family member, who told him all of this false information.
