"Compromising the value"???? Huh? Why do you think I chose to do this on the only MIM body I have out of about a dozen other Strat bodies that might have some "value"? As far as how much wood I need to remove to go from the factory HSH cut to a swimming pool route I don't think superman would be able to hear the difference. And besides if a swimming pool route is good enough for every older Strat plus body ever made...I think I can learn to live with it lol. And I guess as a side benefit if I chose to shield the body it is going to be a breeze.

The swimming pool rout is often called "bathtub".

As I said in my last reply the more wood you get from an HHH rout, more resonance and tonal complexity you obtain.

The HHH rout is similar to an HSH except the middle cavity is large enough to accommodate a third full-sized humbucking pickup if desired.

You way overthink stuff brah. I do the same thing sometimes but honestly...look at the pic you posted...then imagine the little strips of wood separating the middle pup route from the neck and bridge being removed. You really think that is going to have a devastating much less even noticeable difference in resonance and "tonal complexity"? Have you ever heard or played an 80s Strat plus? They are claimed to be one of the best and they ALL have a swimming pool route (or "bathtub" if it makes you feel any better). As a matter of fact if you do any research will find most of the 90's USA Standards as well had a swimming pool route. So is it really a concern for me to "devalue" a practically worthless MIM body I have lying around collecting dust by making it similar to a USA standard or Strat plus to make life easier for me to do this HHH build? I think not.

I have to be honest the absolute LAST concerns I have with this build is what you are concerning yourself with. I appreciate that you are trying to be of assistance but you seem to be totally clueless as to what I am doing this for...and why.

It's a matter of taste.

They are lots of people who prefer the feel of the swimming pool rout over the "universal" HSH/HHH, you're not alone! :)

To be honest I've never played a Strat Plus, not even a Deluxe Plus or Ultra. Frankly I don't see any major tonal difference between the two routs.

No, certainly not, just an opinion.

I can't even imagine how anyone can "feel" the difference in the route once a guitar has a pickguard on it. I just want to do another HHH build and using the most valueless non squire body I have on hand and keep it cheap and easy. Heck you have no idea how close I am to tying this body to my car bumper and driving it through a gravel pit to give it some "patina"...and I am being serious here. I will post the picks of my "relic-ing" techniques LOL.

I'm curious to see your new HHH build in progress.

Once completed don't forget to show us this bad guy in action!

Will do. I just need to purchase a middle pup and the chrome covers, do the routing and then decide which one of my necks I want to bolt on it. I also need to order some 500K pots if I can't find enough in one of my parts bins. I have not decided for certain if I want to beat it up for a relic...the sunburst job on that one is really nice in front but someone did something to the back where all the gloss is gone and it has a nice long scratch so if a good polishing does not bring it back it will need a refin anyhow.

I also need to decide a color pickguard and knobs that will go best with a sunburst, maple neck and chrome hardware. Torn between black, mint or tortoise. I just google imaged to get some ideas and if I go relic I think the mint will work best for the look I am going for.
