Hi,

That looks to be a Made in Japan Standard Stratocaster; it's not a silver series or anything like that, just the basic Standard model that had been made in Japan since about 1985. Being that it's a lefty Fender Japan in that 80s/early 90s era would just cut the "Stratocaster" lettering off the decal used on a right handed guitar so the "Fender" part of the decal would be in the correct place. Actually CBS did that with USA left-handed models as well back in the early-mid 1970s.

You don't indicate where you're located, but that 1993-94 era was just after Fender stopped importing the MIJ Standard models to the USA and replaced them here with Standard models made in Mexico.

+1

The unstamped bridge saddles are somewhat unusual. Most MIJ/CIJ Strat's have them marked "FENDER - FENDER" with both lines of text reading in the same direction. Looks like a nice guitar though.

It's a good guitar. I would not be changing pickups and hardware just because the guitar is old. Save your money. Play it a while. You might like the pickups and the hardware it has.

Generally speaking, the Fuji-Gen Strats were all premium instruments, easily on a par with many MIA offerings. If there's any shortcomings at all it's the usual crappy switch and volume/tone controls. About twenty bucks worth of US-spec parts is all these guitars generally need.

Those are decent guitars. Just play around with it on a good amplifier.....you might find it needs nothing else. It has good brand tuners and the same saddles as a USA vintage style other then the Fender stampings. As far as the pickups don't change them just because they are Japan because these days unless you really spend a lot from a custom winder will probably end up with something made in Mexico, China or Korea. What I would do is check if it has a large steel trem block. If not that is worth for an upgrade as well the nut if it is cheapo plastic....small investment to get a bone etc to upgrade.

As mentioned the weak link could be the pots and switch....if this is a keeper for you I would upgrade those as well. Just remember DO NOT discard the original parts. If you ever decide to sell this in the future or leave it to someone having all the original parts is a huge plus regardless if they are a down grade and for the past few years the value and collectability of the older quality Japan instruments have been steadily increasing as the USA models are becoming ludicrously overpriced.
