Hello!

I bought myself a new fender HSS year 2000'. Maple neck, with seymour duncans (USA). I need a fair price judgement. Guitar is in a quite good state, with a few scratches in the back. I paid 980$.

Im really happy with the guitar and i think that its excelent for me :)
But i think that i paid too much :)

It doesnt really matter, but im curious. And yeah,... im from Europe :)

Welcome to the Forum.

I'm thinking that for being in Europe that is a pretty decent price.

Hmm. Time was, any guitarist visiting the States from Europe would visit Manny's or whereever so as to bring home a Fender or Gibson, because they were so much cheaper Stateside.

Doesn't seem to be so anymore. The other day I was comparing prices like for like from online retailers both sides of the Atlantic. Mostly there wasn't anything in it, and sometimes Britain was actually cheaper. Which astonished me. The weak dollar must be part of it, but not entirely.

On another thread it gradually transpired that, ordering bespoke, custom builders in the UK are currently noticeably better priced than famous US outlets such as Warmoth. Never been like that before.

So maybe it really is a global market now. That old idea of a good price, for Europe, don't seem to apply anymore.

Anyway. OP: if the condition is pretty good then I don't think you overpaid. Though I don't think you got a knock-out deal, either.

Sounds to me like u did pretty great. Also, it is highly likely that strat will be worth every penny and then some to you. I lost a 1989 American Strat (it was stolen) with a custom neck I had made for it. I also put a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge position (This was before they sold strats with humbuckers already in them and stuff like now). After it was stolen, I realized how priceless it actually was to me. I still have the original neck to it... It would be a vintage strat next year (2009).

Tnx :D

I think that this one is a keeper. It fits me like a glove. I was pretty impressed by the range of sounds i can get out of my precious :D , and how different it acts on different amps. I played only two concerts with her but i got that extra confidence in the instrument, which was kind of absent on my previous guitars. The only thing i had to do is to block the tremolo, becouse the guitar went out of tune when i used it.

If you ever find that guy that stole your guitar you should made a she out of him. Stealing bastar...

Cheers!
