It was not uncommon to see original lefty Strats without the "Stratocaster" decal. I have a 1971 without it. Check out gbase, and you can see many.

Fender didn't start putting the country of origin (Made in USA) on Stratocasters until mid-1976.

True - I think the ones I was referring to (with the "Fender" out on the ball end) are from after they moved the serial number to the headstock.

I couldn't turn up a 1971-1976 version but here is a later 70s with the split decals:

I knew that Fender made them that way, but I started the gbase search with 1971; should have gone back to 1970.

The '50s and '60s lefties had the "Stratocaster" part of the decal, those with the smaller, less bold, uncurved font.
