Hey all,

I'm in the process of rewiring my Fender Mexican strat using the wiring diagram from the Seymour Duncan website, shown here: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wi ... s_1v_2t_5w.

According to this diagram, the ground lug from the master volume pot is bent to the back of the pot and soldered. Problem is, I just tried bending the lug and it snapped off from the rest of the pot. So I'm wondering the following:

a) is there an easy way to bend the lug towards the back of the pot? if not,
b) is there an alternate method I should use to ground?

To give you an idea of what I'm working with:
- It's a 96 Fender Mexican Standard strat with 3 single coil pickups.
- I replaced most of the stock electronics (volume pot, tone knobs, 5-way switch selector, bridge pickup) with authentic Fender parts and a DiMarzio Injector single coil pickup (which is hum cancelling) in the bridge position, respectively
- I used copper tape to shield both the body cavities and the back of my pickguard to reduce the 60s cycle hum

If anyone can help me, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance guys!

If I understand the problem... You can solder a wire from the broken lug to the case.

Thank you for your speedy reply!

Forgive me in advanced, as my lingo in electronics is not the best.

When you say "the case," you're referring to the back of the volume pot, right? and if I were to solder a wire from the lug to the case, that should fix my problem?

Ultimately, my goal for doing this is to make sure that the volume know actually turns up/down my guitar. When I put my guitar back together, my volume knob wasn't acting like a volume knob and I came to see that the ground lug wasn't soldered, as specified in the Seymour Duncan diagram.

I did as you guys suggested, and it worked! The volume knob works properly, and plus the new hum-cancelling DiMarzio Injector pickup makes no noise AND the sound is amazing! Going to test drive this puppy a lot today.

Thank you again for all the help! Much appreciated!!! :o) Rock on!
