Not intended to be an ad, a local store is selling this but they do not seem to know what it is and neither do i :? , Everything seems to look ok but i have trecked through the catalogues for 2008 onwards but can't find this colour (red/burgundy over gold) anywhere other than the custom shop reds over gold, now it isn't one of those but what is it?

made in usa headstock & corona plate

any help would be appreciated before a visit at the weekend to see for myself

It seems to be an American Standard in Cherry Cola that Billy Beltsander had his way with. A pity, really......it looks like it was once quite attractive.

:(

+1

At least they could have rubbed some greasy dirt into that fresh wood. Mojo.

Since they only saw fit to "Relic" the body, I think it is time for a complete body only refin to rectify an otherwise fine looking guitar.

I don't mind a well done relic. I mind this one very much. The paint looks brand new where it isn't sanded. Terrible.

Hi there,
The serial number tracks to an American Std Strat maple neck in Candy Cola (12----as in 011-0402-712). Completed 7/3/2008 and shipped to Europe not long after.
Hope that helps.
All the best,
rob

"Candy" colors usually have a gold base paint. So what the OP thought was a custom shop like "red/burgundy over gold" isn't a special relic finish. I think it's clear that the relicing of that guitar was not done by workers at Fender.

Whoever did that pretty much halved the value of the guitar.

And who "relics" a guitar but leaves the CE and recycling stickers on the neckplate?
