Hello! I'm going to clean my MIM Stratocaster (Modern Player) and I was wondering if anyone has any information/tips on doing it (ex.-whether to take the strings off, what products, etc).

Thank you very much!

Howdy, guitar cleaning time is always a good time for a fresh set of strings ;)
I use Murphy's Oil Soap in warm water with a cotton wash cloth... clean the entire guitar with it... fretboard... body... pickguard... EVERYTHING...
then I the proceed on to cables... amp.... etc....
It works great... and it's completey safe... and non-flamable... Does a better job than naptha... and smells good too.

Yes, except for cleaning pickups and bridges and screws and other sharp parts that snag the loops in the microfiber cloths. Then real chamois leather is much better.

The first step in cleaning is to remember to wash your hands before you start to play. (I find that Dove soap help to prevent you hands from drying out) and to wipe your guitar down after you are through playing.
That being said, I use Dunlop 65 because I can't find the old Gibson spry polish any more. When I worked for Fender at the Fullerton plant we used to use Johnson's liquid wax to polish the guitars in final inspection......but that was a different type of paint back then, but I am sure it wouldn't hurt to use it today.

When it comes to the deep cleaning (String change time) Murphy's oil soap is a good safe cleaner, I follow it up with Mcguire ultimate wax on all the painted parts.

You can buy Lemon oil at your local Super Market. 160z is cheaper than the small bottle of Dunlop lemon oil. I use "Holloway House Lemon oil" First I use Lighter Fluid to really clean the rosewood fretboard then I use the lemon oil..
