To anyone else who would love to see Fender bring back their American Floyd Rose Classic Strat, please sign up here.

No Imports. No Charvel. My money is waiting for you, FMIC. Carvin is calling my name otherwise.

+1 Vote casted.

Even an American Special FR Series. No 'Ping' or 'Floyd Rose Special' either. We want the real deal.

American Special FR HSS: Custom Shop Fat '50s (neck & mid), Modern TwinHead (bridge)

American Special FR HH: Modern TwinHead (neck, bridge)

American Special FR HSH: Modern TwinHead (neck, bridge), Custom Fat '50s (middle)

Not sure if H and HHH may sell well...

I've recently just sold the MIM Standard Strat Locking Trem I used to have and to me it was far from what FMIC intended this guitar to be. Lifeless humbucker in the bridge position, small vintage frets and a 9.5" radius on the fretboard. Sure, it had a great bridge & locking nut but, essentially it was just a MIM standard Strat with a Floyd Rose. Hardly what anyone would call a 'rocker' guitar by any means.

I have to agree with Chromeface's specs, or even the original specs of the Floyd Rose Classic Strat-

Image

I've since played a Charvel So Cal and found they are far superior to the MIM locking Trem Strat, to the point of getting a mij San Dimas. Everything about this guitar is better than the Strat. I just wish FMIC would bridge the gap and open up to the younger players again. It's ironic that when FMIC acquired Charvel, the Floyd Rose Classic Strat disappeared. However as good as the MIJ San Dimas are, as a customer I wanted a Fender Stratocaster and the there is nothing worse than the feeling of having being forced to consider something else for the sake of supporting their other brands. Yeah Charvel are good guitars, but we want a Fender Stratocaster equivalent to the Charvel, made in USA.

Originally the Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster sported two AlNiCo V single coils and a DiMarzio Custom PAF Pro (HH models came with dual DiMarzio PAFs in the neck & bridge). in 1998 the DiMarzios were replaced by Fender's own DH-1 Atomic humbuckers.

While the Floyd Rose Classic HH disappeared from the pricelist in 2002 the HSS model remained, lasting for 2 years.
The DH-1 Atomic was replaced with a Diamondback humbucker a couple of months before the discontinuation of the series in 2004.

If Fender brings back the Floyd Rose Classics, the new incarnations from that series would sport a killer-sounding combination of Fat 50's single coils and Modern TwinHead humbuckers - coupled with an S1 coil splitter for a wider spectrum of tones and the Passing Lane switch - available in HSS, HH and HSH configurations.
I wouldn't be surprised if H and HHH varations of these models come into surface.

I appreciate they're Mexican, but I've got one of the Plustop Strats with a floyd and it's a cracking guitar for the price. Definitely a step up over other Mexican Strats.

The Floyd Rose Classics superseded the HRR series.

Though the HRRs were manufactured in Japan, the Custom Shop did a batch of American-made HRRs for Richie Sambora - which eventually evolved to the development of a signature model in 1991.

Dave "MoonFace" Murray was another high-profile user of the series.

The resurrected HRRs would sport a Dragster humbucker in the bridge and two Duncan Designed singles in the neck & middle.

Thanks for all the replies, gents. Despite Fender's MIM and Charvel offerings, I am somewhat surprised they aren't making an American Standard or American Deluxe iteration right now of this guitar.

Any time Gibson and PRS are making regular production runs of their U.S.A. guitars with a Floyd, which they currently are, it's a sure sign that the market has come back around for Floyd-equipped models. If they can do it, when the hell can't Fender?

They've got the MIM thing covered, they've got the Special Run thing covered (Music Zoo), and the Custom Shop thing covered. Now bridge the gap guys!

They did an American Deluxe Strat HSS with a Mini Floyd Rose locking tremolo in 1998. Discontinued in 2007.

Dave Murray does have a couple of these as his primary stage guitars. His #1 though is a sunburst California series Strat that was modified with a floyd rose and hot rail pickups. There have been some rumors that Fender is producing a signature version of this guitar, although I am not sure if it would be USA or MIM version.

I would love to see the return of the HRR signature with 21 frets, vintage tuners, vintage logo, and a real humbucker in the bridge position.

Dave has also two Floyd Rose Classic Strats in Black and Vintage White, both modded with Duncan HotRail humbuckers (HHH configuration), sporting an aged white pearloid pickguard. The vintage white guitar has been recently modified with a Seymour Duncan Lil' Screamin' Demon in the middle position.

Fender produces a Dave Murray signature Stratocaster based on the Paul Kossoff-owned '57/'63 hybrid, except Dave's own guitar shares many of the features borrowing from the MIJ HST-57DM tribute model such as a 5-way pickup selector, dual DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucking pickups and an original Floyd Rose tremolo.
