Thank you for your time.

I have a Stratocaster with active pickups. I went to change my 9V battery tonight and I noticed that the red wire was broken off of the thing that the battery clips into.

How can I fix this? Today is Tuesday, and I need my guitar fixed by this Sunday.

Do you recommend that I let a professional look at it. I live in a small town (central Kentucky), so it's not easy to find someone close. Or can I fix this myself?

You can easily fix it yourself...

Just re-solder the wire coming from the 9VDC connector.

If you wanna live on the edge... just tape the wires together... that'll likely get you through the show (not my choice).

cheers!

Soldering is the way to go.

If you don't want to try soldering, and don't mind wasting some money, your local auto store might have a defogger repair kit, like this one. It's basically an epoxy glue with high silver content, and cheaper than buying the same stuff from an electronic store. But much more expensive than solder.

But if all you need is to get through the weekend, you can strip a bit of the wire, and bring it inside the battery compartment, snapping some strands between the battery and socket when attaching the battery. Just be careful not to short any strands to the other pole.

Thank you Lightnin MN and arth1.

Sounds simple enough. I can't really see inside the battery harness. It has s flap that covers where the wires go into and it's riveted together. How can I open this up?

Or should I simply stick the wire to the connector in there and just solder?

Sorry if that doesn't make sense. Would it be easier for me to just purchase a new harness and install it? I would have to take my pic guard off to get to the whole wire. If I purchase a new harness, would I just solder the old wires onto the new wires and then put some shrink rubber around it? (I saw it on a youtube video but not sure if that's the correct way??).
