For various reasons I've put off ordering pups for a partscaster I want to put together. Now, I'm ready to get to it. The poll are my current considerations. I play classic rock / blues, have lots of pedals and a good amp, but noise is a consideration for me. I struggle with my P90 Tele because they're kind of noisy.
Also: what are, Fender Deluxe Drive pups, and Fender American Select pups?

I'll just say this ... In my opinion, Fender makes very good pickups. They would -- for sure -- be the first pickups I would be looking at. Hence, I would venture towards the FAT 50s based on your list. But I am not enough of an expert on the Laces and single-coil Dimarzios (I love Dimarzio humbuckers, though), so I am refraining from voting. For me, I think Texas Specials and Tex Mex are worth considering, as well. I have played these alot, and they are very good and suit many different tonal styles (not just SRV wannabes). I put Tex Mex into my MIM Strat shortly after getting it (about 7 years ago when I was living in Austin, TX). At that time, a set of Tex Mex sold new for about $30. I believe they are selling now for 3x that, but that is still cheap considering how other pups have increased in price (I think that is all due to the gobal prices of magnets). Forgetting what I paid, they have never given me a reason to look back, providing great tone with major depth and sustain.

I was told by another forum member that the deluxe drive pickups are the pickups on the Highway 1.
I am interested in these ones myself. My shop (L&M) doesn't have them in their system yet as they are a new item.

American select pickups are on the American select strats. The select series is between American deluxe and Custom shop. I have an American select and the pickups are sweet. The first time I played it, it sent chills down my back, it was the most perfect sound ever! 8) However, they are expensive.

Thanks for your input. It would be nice if Fender put out a chart that compared the specs of their pickups. Since they tend to put out the same pups with different names, it's hard to keep track. It's looking like I'll just go with the Fat 50's. Maybe I should check YT to see if there are any videos with the Select or Deluxe Drive. Though I find listening to someone else play through their guitar and their amp doesn't really tell me much about how I will like a pup. I recently ordered a pup based on a video and ended up hating it.

Buying a speaker based on the same test criterion is a crap-shoot as well.

FYI, due to an underwhelming majority, I ordered Fat 50's today. It seems everyone likes them, so I'm sure they will be a good starting point for my soon to be partscaster project. Later I will probably do another pick guard with the DiMarzios.
When I get the parts and I start to put together the pick guard, I'll start a build thread for those inclined to like such things. The body, neck and what I'm going to do to the pick guard, will make an interesting build. Stock is boring. Stay tuned.

You might experiment with tone caps of different values. My personal fav is the Russian-made PIO .022 mfd that Mojotone sells.

Let us know what you come up with -- those Fat 50's are a nice set of coils.

I wanted to drag up this old thread to say that I finished building my parts caster with the Fat 50's and have gotten it properly set up and these pickups are great. They are exactly what I want from pups which is a ballsy full sound with lots of mids and bass, but top end when needed.
I built the parts caster to be a platform for trying different pups. I wired the output with disconnects so I could easily change loaded pick guards. I even built in a battery holder in case I wanted to try some active pups. I like these Fat 50's so much, I can't see taking them out.
I'm using the parts caster for a bunch of songs in the band now. The other guitarist also plays a Strat and he hears what I'm getting for sound and kind of looks at his guitar like, "what's up?". Very gratifying!

I have two strats, one with texas specials, the other with fat 50s

both sets sound great,

the texas specials aren't for everyone, they can be a bit too much at times.

where as the fat 50s work great for just about everything

Your concerns about noise?

So far, "what noise?". I'm not using it for any high gain stuff right now but I am using a distortion pedal on a couple of songs. Not a problem.
