I've just won an auction for one on eBay.

Can anyone confirm how rare these things actually are? There's a lot of mixed information on google about it, some even saying that only 400 were made. Is this a reference to a certain model of the guitar?

Thanks for looking!

Fender is making a Pink Paisley guitar again right now
Sam Ash has them on there site for 1000.00 in stock.
Other than these Fender only made them in 1968 and 1969
and I could only amagine what a 68 or 69 would sell for. Also
there may have been some Fender Japan ones in the mid 80's. You
can also get them made by Crook Custom guitars with many
differant paisley finishes. Not cheap though.

The original pink paisley guitars were 1968 Telecasters. They were made during the flower-power hippie days of the late sixties. They were made from self-adhesive wallpaper, and originally called Paisley Red Tele.
In the mid 1980's Fender re-introduced the pink paisley(and blue flower) finish on a made in Japan '72 RI Stratocaster. They are valued at $1,000-$1,200. Those MIJ guitars were discontinued in the early 1990's. Fender brought the pink paisley finish back once again in about 2003 with a CIJ tag.
I bought my pink paisley Strat new in January 1988, and have loved it ever since. At the time, Japanese guitars had no collector interest. I got it cuz it looks awesome on stage!! I swapped out the stock electronics for a complete switch to EMG-SA pickups, pots and all. I sold the stock single coils because they sounded a little thin compared to the EMG's. In hindsight, I wish I still had them, even tho I will never sell the guitar. It has truly been my favorite axe for a long time. I like it better than most MIA Strats I have played, I don't know why, but it just shines!!!Image

PS Brad Paisley is an awesome guitarist who plays an original 1968 Paisley Red Tele.

This is by no means meant to insult the OP, but why is it so many people buy gutairs and THEN come here to ask if it's real, if they got a good deal, if we know anything about it......

Isn't this something that should be done BEFORE you buy?

Yeah, I've resisted making such comments on the many "did I get a good deal" and "what is this I bought" and "is this real" posts.

Doing your research after you bought something doesn't sound like a real wise idea

Who wants "pink" ??? :?

Bought a Paisley Strat in '99. First thing I did was take the neck off and put a American Deluxe neck on it with the silver FENDER ribbon logo on it. 2nd thing I did was put a seymour duncan Lil 59 with a split/phased dpst switch in the bridge postion. 3rd thing I did was put a CHROMED (not MIRRORED) pickguard on it. 4th thing I did was let my 16 year daughter get used to it. Will post a pic later on tonight or tomorrow nite. The body by the way, is supposedly a plastic sleeve that is "shrinkwrapped" to the body. No complaints about quality of the body or electronics whatsoever.
