I imagine they'll release the numbers when the run is done.

Wish I could be in that number 8)

Although, the whole concept is actually inspiring me to build my own.
I have enough parts laying around doing nothing.
Hmmmm...

I like the color and look, especially the neck! But both Pine and Redwood are VERY soft woods, not sure how they are going to hold up to heavy vibrato use :?: But it ought to "Relic" up just nice.

You mean like this? This was Lynn Ellsworth's first Tele Bass in the series. He also made me a matching Tele guitar but it went back for some upgrades. Will post a pic of it after I get it back.

Very cool guitars. The Redwood reminds me of the guitars that Lynn Ellsworth, former owner of Boogie Bodies (he was partners with Warmoth years ago), has been making. He picked up some old thick cedar planks from some old docks on a lake up here in North Idaho. The dock were made in the 1930s. He told me he was cutting this stuff up for firewood, when he chucked a piece and it made a loud acoustical sound when it hit the pavement. He thought, ummmm. He took some one piece chunks and made Strat bodies. I liked the idea of one piece bodies. Anyhow he left the wood unfinished and just sanded the wood smooth. He says the guitars are sonic and has sold a number of them.

I love the bound necks on these. And the looks of redwood is killer!

Here is my redwood Tele that Lynn made for me.

They certainly can be soft, and being coniferous are categorised as softwood. However many hardwoods can be softer, balsa is a hardwood (which is soft) as is Luam AKA Philippine Mahogany.

That looks a very nice piece of timber with very dense rings, which could be pretty damn good.

The main issue with modern softwood is the trees are grown fast and cut young so you get very wide annual rings with a lot of summer growth. The summer growth (the lighter wood) is the softer. The winter growth can be very dense.

Softwoods are in effect two woods in one with summer and winter growth and it can be the difference between the two that causes problems. Hardwoods, being deciduous, don't have that problem and are more consistent throughout.
