Hey Hey!

So I bought what appears to be a REALLY nice CS Strat but fear it may be phony. The guy I bought it from gave me the song and dance that the COA was in his storage unit and he would get it to me asap. I believed him and REALLY wanted the guitar, it is a beauty!! I even asked him "what if you cant find it?" and he told me he had already talked to Fender and that it could be replaced for $75 so I figured "no problem" either way as long as I get the COA. Well,...I have had the guitar for a couple months now and the honest and trustworthy fellow I bought it from is no longer answering my emails or calls. It started with "I am going to storage tomorrow" which turned into the excuse I got the three or four times I asked for COA status. Now, short of going to his place and confronting him I am stuck with a guitar and no COA. I know, its my fault for believing this guy but hindsight is 20/20 right? Anyway, now I have learned that without the original owner, the original receipt and an act of god from Fender I am SOL for a COA. So here I am. Just wondering if there is any way to find out if this is even real? I thought I would start here and see what you all think. Is there anyway to really know? Is there any place to learn more about this guitar? the serial on the neck plate starts with CN6 photos below... ANY help or advice appreciated!! and before anybody feels the need; I know it was epic stupidity to buy without the COA.

Hiya

That's one sweet looking guitar, birds eye neck............. anyway seeing as guitar dater wont work for CS Fenders I would send an email to Fender asking if the serial number even links to a CS strat although if its on the neck plate that's even easier to fake than a decal in some ways.

Sorry your having doubts, not nice is it?

Cheers Al

Send the details to consumerrelations@fender.com and they'll be able to tell you what it is.

Thanks for the info. I sent an email as suggested and already have been answered. They were able to confirm the guitar and sent me a spec sheet with info on how to get a replacement COA which is freaking awesome! Thanks for the info and thanks to Fender for A+ customer service.

Welcome to the Forums. Certainly lucked out with the COA replacement as a second owner. Bear in mind that, although you will able to register your guitar with the Custom Shop's Custom Care Program, second owners forfeit all warranty rights, COA or none.

:? I would swear this thread was posted several weeks ago, but all the replys are dated current. Have I fallen through a worm hole or am I losing my mind?

Going from the info you were given, I'd guess this is starlite blue. Never heard of it, it's nice though sort of like a metallic sonic blue.

I found a few examples of the starlite blue and was a freaky purplish definately not this. That was my first thought as well. I love the color of this guitar though and it is flawless.
