I have a Squire Bullet Strat, It was my first guitar but now Im ready to upgrade. I like the look and sound of a Strat and Im thinking of getting a "real" Fender strat. But I was thinking, Should I get something else? I already have a strat, so why should I get another. So is there big enough diffrence that my first real guitar should be another strat?
Hi ConnorFin22 and welcome to the forum!

As Arjay pointed out, there is a huge difference between a Squier Bullet Strat and a Fender Strat. If you decide to get a Strat, know that you can have a fine instrument in a Standard Stratocaster on the lower end of your $600-$900 budget.

If I may ask, what amp will you be using?

    Cheers!

I'm just using crappy Mustang 1 amp. I will get a better one soon.

All I can say is it's a buyers market when it comes to Fender guitars. New guitars can be negotiated and there are used MIM and MIA fenders all over the place that are in excellent condition.

The used market on good quality fender guitars is basically flooded right now.

WARNING: It's not a sellers market. If you get something and decide it's not right you might have a hard time unloading it.

+1

I know people who've had Standard Strats (both MIM and MIA) up for sale for months without any serious offers, even with a giveaway price.

If the Squier Bullet is a player to you with a nice neck and tone, then maybe it is worth upgrading with some better quality components. But -- don't over do it -- save the bulk of the cash for getting a real Fender Strat.

Just looking at guitarfetish.com, you can get some quality (yet inexpensive) upgrades for the Bullet with most of the money left over to by the Fender. This is only an example, as you can buy some nice used components on eBay, too.

For only $83 total, you can make some MAJOR and all NEW upgrades to it:
Saddles - $13
Pickups (GFS are great for the money) -- $48
Trem Block -- $22

Maybe tuners, too. But I have a Squier myself, and the tuners are quite good. If yours are the same as mine (not sure, though, as I have a VM), then you likely can keep the tuners.
