Just for fun....

I've got an old, stock white pickguard that I want to "age" a little for that aged white look.

Some ideas that came to me:

1. Leave it out in the sun
2. Smoke around it
3. Cake it with mud, and let it dry.
4. Pee on it....

please don't pee on it I'd hate for someone to come up and shake your hand after playing knowing where your right hand has been

After you dip in coffee, hang it up then light a handful of cigarettes under it and let the smoke and tar from the cigarettes hit the pickguard.

:P

Aww.....c'mon....that's no fun at all! What's the point of crushing someone's hand ('cause ya play guitar, ya know) and giving 'em some cooties in the process?

That is just gross, even as a joke. If that's the way you want to treat your guitars maybe you should find another hobby.

:(

Well, it's not like the pickguard is going to be used in the immediate future. (plus, if I just wanted to shine up my guitars all pretty-like and just stare at 'em without playing 'em....I'd be an exclusive Gibson guy!)

Instead of urinating on them, why don't you try what the rest of us do and "Play it"!

No, playing it would detract from the fun he's having using it as a toilet....
What is the deal with all of these people who want to artifically age their guitars? I really just don't get it...

I don't get it either. Guitars age so gracefully from being played over time.

I have to agree mine is only six years old and was never really played much until I bought it 2 years ago and the maple neck and pick gard are both , already , getting a nice hue to them

Playing 4-5 hours a day your guitar should age nicely on it's own. Instead of artificially creating an aged look think of how good you will feel knowing that YOU playing it gave it that aged look. The guitar will have it's own natural personality and character.

On a serious note...(I have this suspicion that....you are not on the path of discovery in terms of levity in regards to this thread...)

This pickguard isn't going on any guitar at all. I already have pickguards for those other guitars.

The question is in regards to what I can do to a pickguard to age it, give it character...make it look like....it's been drug behind a pickup down a dirt road...(Now there's an idea@!!!!!)
