Great song! Did you do all those parts yourself? If so, is that a drum program because it doesn't sound like it. You have a good voice!

A tight and coherent arrangement with a tasty rhythm guitar riff and a ballsy in-yer-face solo......what's not to like?

There's just *SOMETHING* about a vintage Super Reverb and a Strat!

8) 8) 8)

Rawk on!

It doesn't sound like a drum program to me either. Did you do all that multi-tracking in a home, PC based, studio?

Anyway, it's a very good Spec recording and brings Tom Cochrane to mind. That's a big compliment from me. You may recall his "Lunatic Fringe" or "Life is a highway".

Nicely done!

Thanks for listening, Arjay. And I also owe you a great deal of thanks for for pointing me in the right direction! It certainly is a killer combo.

Trower had some awesome tones going on. So glad that the old school sound was evident, it's indeed my favorite kind of sound. Thanks for listening!

@Danagos, I gave a listen to Tom Cochrane, he's definitely got a nice old school sound from back in the day. Thanks for the huge compliment!

It's an ebony trans from the custom shop ordered to mostly '68 spec with these custom specs:

1967 pickups
vintage fretboard radius
vintage C neck
vintage fretwire
vintage nut width
maple cap neck

As for the pale neck and tinted headstock, I was a bit confused about this as well. I messaged Mike Eldred and he told me that the neck is sealed in poly, while the headstock is coated with nitro. He said that if I wanted the neck to be the same color as the headstock I would have had to have specifically added a tinted neck to the order. Oh well.

For anyone who has apprehensions about the vintage radius and fretwire; with the right adjustments, I have no problem with large bends all up and down the fretboard, nor have any issues with sustain. I personally love the feel of the vintage string spacing, fretwire, and fretboard radius.

It was recorded using the free DAW called Reaper using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and a AKG 420 Perception microphone (recorded guitar and vocals separately).

Effects used for the guitar were Dunlop Original Crybaby Wah -> OCD v4 -> MXR 108 Fuzz -> DirtyLittleSecret MK II -> MXR Carbon Copy -> Super Reverb.

Used a total of 4 tracks, one for guitar, one for vocals, one for drums, and one for bass (which was recorded directly into the Focusrite Scarlett. I use a stock Highway 1 P-Bass; I'm not much of a bassist).

The drums are indeed programmed using a pretty cheap program called EZ Drummer. So glad to hear that they were not overtly noticeable as "fake". Drums are the hardest part for me, as I have virtually no understanding of time signatures, fills, or anything like that. I just know that I wanted an old fashioned classic rock type of drum sound and pattern/fills.

Thanks again for listening, guys!

+1000!

The vintage fretboard configuration seems to be misunderstood by many, including some professional luthiers. For a craftsman intimately familiar with how to set such a Strat up, the results are remarkable; a comfortable neck for chording and wide latitude for extreme bends. Hendrix, Clapton, California, Gallagher, Trower, etc all played such an instrument and had no trouble developing and perfecting their own respective signature styles.
