She's on the work bench today. Rainy and cold, perfect for it, right?

Neck seems pretty straight with no strings, let's get it restrung. :!:

I forgot to mention it, but the truss rod turns in the wrong direction to tighten.

I have the neck feeling really tight and stable. I'm gonna play around with it soon.

Oo - not if it's a Fender neck, it doesn't. Or any other neck I've ever come across, for that matter.

Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey.

(Which potentially could still be confusing. "Righty" means clockwise.)

Fender and others sometimes also have "double-action" trussrods - Fender call them their "bi-flex" rods, on their American Std and Dlx models. With these, turning them anti-clockwise past the neutral position pushes the neck the other way, that is, into front-bow.

I've never in my life encountered an occasion to need that function, but there's always a first time and if your neck is a US one that stubbornly refuses to curve forwards a touch for a bit of relief at the middle frets then this might be that moment.

That's supposing you've got a bi-flex trussrod at all on this guitar. We can't be certain from the photo but I suspect it's unlikely.

...When in doubt, I think there is no shame whatsoever in consulting a good tech over these things. Sometimes there comes a point it's just sensible to get the job done right, rather than go on and on tinkering.

Cheers - C

It's feeling more and more right to me. And yea, it is a Fender, not USA made either. If i turn it the right way, the truss rod nut eventually comes out completely.

And yea, I'd trust my local tech with my Guild. He actually knew what it was, so that's a good sign. He said he hadn't worked on once since 1983 or something.
