my first post.

I bought this MIJ 50th Anniversay Strat brand new back in 1996. I haven't been able to pin down what the name of this color is. Anyone know?

Daphne Blue or Sonic Blue. If you happen to disassemble the guitar, the color may be indicated by a three- or four-letter abbreviation ink-stamped in the cavity for the neck pickup.

Daphne Blue would be my choice...sonic blue seems a little lighter in color.

Close enough for "gummint" work.

And as a retired federal employee I'm fully qualified to make such an observation.

Excellent!
I name my guitars similarly - there's Pearl (Olympic Pearl), and there's Candy (Candy Apple Red).

I have a brown strat. Best it remains un-named.

Brown #2.

But to bring us back full circle, the light blue with a teal hint seen on the guitar used to be known as "potty blue" back in the wool dyeing days. Urine was collected and used as a mordant for woad dyeing.
