Maybe these have been around for a while. I just ran into this one. $17K, YIKES! I'm going to have to show this to my wife so she sees just how lucky she is that I'm a cheap date.

I don't know, it has a nice mahogany body, that neck has a nice look and it's only $17K...damn I couldn't even type that with a straight face! Just goes to show you not every guitar should be reissued.

I think there is a difference between "reissued" and "meticulously recreated". They did the same thing with Eddie Van Halen's "Frankenstein", making 300 exact copies and selling them for around $25,000 each. Clearly, these are guitars for collectors, and not guitarists. At least, that is the difference to me.

I didn't know that Fender ever used mahogany for the body. The description says, clear mahogany lacquer. What does that mean?

Fender did a small run of mahogany-bodied Strat's and Tele's circa 1962. They're somewhat rare and it takes a good eye for lumber to spot one.

"Cigarette body burns recreated using SRV's cigarette brand"

Uhm, pot?

I am a HUGE SRV fan, but for $17,000.00...? Really? If I am going to have a "banged up" guitar, I would rather the "banged up" come from me. Scuffs & scratches from my passionate playing, not some factory copy of someone else's. ...That's just my opinion.
