I have a friend with a left handed Strat that is strung right handed (I think I've got that right), and it has an LSR nut.
One of the slots is missing its bearings, so I was going to replace the nut for him. I got to thinking about it, and realized my spare wouldn't work because it's for a right handed guitar and his is strung backwards.
I've learned that there is no such thing as a left handed LSR, so now he's got a problem.
My question is - is there any kind of nut (for a left handed guitar) that will fit the larger slot of the LSR nut?

Thanks.

Never mind. I had myself confused. This up-side-down-and-backwards thing threw me. It doesn't matter where the tuning pegs are located, he holds the guitar right handed and it is strung right handed, so a regular LSR nut should work just fine.
I'm simply left wondering how he came to lose bearings out of the old one...

I just wanted to commend you on matching the shortest possible conclusion to a problem that can be encountered on a forum. :D

I'd like to know how he lost his bearings as well. :?

I have my own personal stories but they wouldn't help you much!

Thanks.
And anecdotal stories are always enjoyed and appreciated.
If it doesn't help right now, it may well help in a future situation.
Lord knows there are bound to be future situations!

I like the LSR but do not have it on any strats at the moment.
Often losing the ball bearing happens during a string change since the presence of the string prevents the bearings from moving too much.
One issue can be that the small metal fingers that hold the bearings become misshapen or bent allowing the bearing to move.
Others have suggested that another issue is the small rubber backing distorts or shrinks and again the bearing moves from where it should be.
Bearings are not sold separately (unless of course you find the dimensions and source from a bearing supplier 3/32in chrome steel another poster has suggested) but if you buy another unit you should have enough if you save the old ones :D
