Couple of month's ago I became proud owner of 60th anniversary commemorative Strat,
I've had it in the case in front of the TV, amp next to the sofa. One day I picked the case up and the guitar slides and catches one of the latches, :o followed by a shriek of Nooo!.
There's now a small indentation on the top under where you arm goes. I've come to terms with now  lol. and a lesson to be learned always put latches down on your case. :!: You know it's always going to happen.

A few months ago I auditioned for a band at a rehearsal studio that I'd never been to. It was a bit of a stressfull morning. After the audition was over and I was packing up, I realized there was a chip on the bottom edge of my Strat. The stand that I was using had no foam left on the holder. It should have been thrown in the trash rather than left out to eat guitars.
I was in shock for about an hour. I then realized that the Strat and I had been through a tough day together and we were bonded. Stuff happens, you can't beat yourself up too much over it.

The relic process has to start sometime! Don't sweat it, it is going to happen and sounds like you learned something in the process.

I've learned the hard way that Fender's own A-frame guitar stands will damage both nitro finished guitars and acoustics (for their acoustic stands). The plastic plugs are just ever so slightly bigger than the foam, and will scratch the finish. Two of my guitars have been damaged by two different Fender A-frame stands.
A clear case of Made in China, and Fender's QA being rubber-stamping instead of thinking individuals actually trying to find flaws.
Now I use plush tube covers for the stands, but it's a little late. Thanks, Fender!

Not a bad place for a ding, all things considered.

That is why I have a player guitar while my nice ones stay in the case till played in a stituation that I have no worries about. My player guitar plays super, has the pickups in it that I like the most, and has dents on neck and body. So I never fear about an occasional bump!

This has happened a few times.

1991 - '62 Telecaster: Chipped the body right on the binding. Argh!
1996 - '87 Strat plus: Guitar slid off the side of the amp and put a small ding in the stained body.
2000 - Dinged the body right by the jack on my homebuilt Strat. Argh!
2004 - Banding in to the corner of a table with my EC Strat and put small pimple in the side of the body. No chips, but it looks wierd.
2007 - The Les Paul Std I never played and looked brand new: Small dinged created by my lead guitar player who loved playing the guitar.

Thankfully, none of the damage looks too bad. So far, my '04 50th Anniversary Am. Searies Strat has not a scratch on it. I playing this guitar a lot too. The only imperfection is where the finished has separated from a fret marker.
My '76 and '79 Strats already have plenty of wear, so I don't care too much.

Unfortunately this is my only guitar you could call the real thing :D . I haven't touched my others since I bought this one. I think they should be played and it doesn't take anything away. I certainly wouldn't swap it and you could have it repaired if you really wanted.
I suppose the solution is to buy another strat.Which I will do at some point,Custom shop :?:mmm  Image

My one rule for my guitars is that no guitar worth more than $500 leaves the house for gigs or any sort of public appearance. I started that rule about 1990 and it's been a great way to avoid dinging my best guitars.

Of course, if you only have one guitar, that rule might not work for you.

Then theres the story of the '58 Strat that was sent out to CBS-Fender in the summer of '69 to be refinished, because all the dings and scratches were, at that time of mindset, considered to be intollerable. What came back was, some 25 years later, discovered to be a replacement body, NOT a refinish of the '58. Just love them CBS-Fender stories, don'tcha!! This was one of 'em.

The moral being: love them dings and dents!

Just do the old playground trick, rub some dirt into the bruise!

yea the first one hurts the most.. but it's bound to happen.. I guess we have to come to terms with the fact that these are bought to be played...

you can probably get it fixed, but you're just going to wind up with another one at some point..
