Does an ashtray cover hinder palm muting at all? I've never tried a Strat with one and I think it'd look cool on my Strat, but if it effects muting I'd rather stick to something more functional and not use the cover. Can anyone help me here?

I've heard some people complain that it gets in the way of palm-muting yeah. If you're used to laying your hand down right on the bridge when muting, you might have a problem. If you usually anchor your picking hand a little further from the bridge, shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Without a doubt it's going to change the way you hold your pick hand. It's going to take some getting used to for sure. I do love the look though.

When you try to palm mute with the "ashtray" cover on, you will knock the cover off. Then you'll be able to palm mute again. Problem solved.

Makes sense, I guess I'm going to pass on the cover.
